When my cat Leonardo DaVinic (Leo) passed away from FeLV on Feburary 11, 2008, I was obviously devastated. There was a song that kept sticking with me after he passed. I would find myself humming it at work, or spontaneously turn to it on some odd radio station. That song helped to inspire me to create a list of songs, a play list, that told Leo's story the best it could through song. Leo fought his disease with his head held high. He was inspired by the world around him and never gave up. Here are the songs. Put them together in your own play list creator, and see your own departed furry ones in it.
This play list was part of my healing process. It always makes me feel better whenever I listen to it. Maybe it can help you too.
"Seasons of Love"- Original Broadway Cast
"I'm your Angel"- Celine Dion
"Stand"- Rascal Flatts
"So Small"- Carrie Underwood
"My Wish" Rascal Flatts (This was the song that inspired me. I sang it to Leo all the time)
"You'll Be in my Heart"- Phil Collins
"The Circle of Life"- Elton John
"Borrowed Time"- Leahy (this one may be hard to find)
"There'll You'll Be"- Faith Hill
"Fly"- Celine Dion
Ask me about Feline Leukemia Vote for Leonardo DaVinci on his profile. Help my departed angel make COTD in loving memory. http://www.catchannel.com/blog/viewbio.aspx?apid=52065

| Having just gone through a divorce and an episode of major depression immediately after, I also had a playlist, but instead of helping me to heal it kind of helped to keep me stuck. As i fight my way out of the depression, my playlists have changed. But just as things went south in my relationship m best friend from high school passed away, so I had songs on there to help me grieve for him. One Sweet day by Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men Who You'd be Today by Kenny Chesney I won't Forget You by Poison breakaway by Kelly Clarkson The show Must Go On by Queen My Old Friend By Tim McGraw I'm Moving On by Rascal Flatts Kind & Generous By Natalie Merchant and The End of the Line by the Travelling Wilburys Kind of an odd mix, but they did help me to grieve for my Friend.
My cats own my house they just permit me to live there. Only cat lovers know the luxury of fur-coated, musical hot water bottles that never go cold." - Susanne Millen

| I make it a point NOT to listen to music during the grieving process because it will forever ruin the music for you. When my all time favorite "These Dreams" by Heart came on the radio I lunged for the volume control and didn't turn it back up until I was sure it was over!

| Whenever I'm grieving, this haunting instrumental classic from the 60s "Our Winter Love" by Bill Purcell constantly plays in my head. It seems to make me feel worse. Last night I thought if I played the song while looking at a picture of Cosmo, maybe it would help. It didn't. Backfired big time! Now the song is playing in my head more persistently. I think I'm back to where I was two months ago.

| Kingman Bob - being back where you were two months ago may actually be progress! The grieving process isn't a straight line from here to there, and sometimes when you feel that you're moving backward, you actually are moving forward. I'm glad to see you back here again - most of us have been through the loss of a cat, and while we don't really know how you feel, because everyone's grief is different, we do understand the feelings.

| cats dolls Yes, I agree with you. I didn't know what to expect when I tried this. I guess you don't get over 13 years in two or three months. It's strange how music can have such an effect on you. I finally got my Burmese kitten! Her name is Angel. I will do a post about her when I have more time, hopefully this weekend.

| OH! I am so glad you did find your Burmese! I won't be here for a couple of days but I'll look forward to hearing all about her - and how you found her! Love's not like a light switch that can be quickly turned on and off - my prayer for you now is that your new Burmese baby catches some of the love pouring out of the hole in your heart and helps you heal.

When minky died, I heard "Last kiss" by pearl jam and it tore my heart to bits, I still cry whenever I hear it.
Oh where, oh where, can my baby be?
the lord took her away from me
shes gone to heaven, so Ive got to be good
so I can see my baby when I leave this world
I try not to associate songs with grieving because I can no longer listen to phil collin's "you'll be in my heart" or pearl jam's "last kiss" without shedding a tear or two.
