| My 2 yo male neutered cat wont stop pooping in my bed. Actually, it may be the 11 mo old unspayed female but her poops are a little thinner than what ive been finding so i just assumed it was the male. I keep thier box very clean, scoop it every day and change the entrire thing with new litter once a week or more. Sometimes they will go months and no one poops in my bed, but this week they did it twice and Im at my wits end. the smell went all the way thru to the mattress. can anyone provide any insight? TIA!

| Cats can mark territory with feces as well as urine. Spay that female cat ASAP. And while you're making a trip to the vet anyway, take the male in for a check up and maybe a fecal exam - thin poops may be loose poops and may indicate a problem. How many boxes do you have? you really should have 3, but 2 is absolutely necessary. It's possible that whoever it was had to go SO BAD and the litter box was occupied or otherwise unavailable.
So many cats...

| I think Evendozen is right --- this is somehow connected to having an unspayed female and marking territory. Please get her spayed ASAP. Our local Humane Society currently has over 300 cats that need homes and our Humane Society does kill them if they've been waiting for long to make room for more. There are also 40+ kittens that need homes and this is just one shelter in one city in one state -- imagine the number nationwide! Is it possible someone got closed into the bedroom? Or any other new stressors that have come into play?

| Spaying is the most normal solution, usually is a marking thing. But you also need to clean the bed with an adequate soap. Nothing that contains ammonia, or bleach, or you are inviting all the cats to your bed for urinating Sometimes is because an urine infection.

| Agree with the others - that female has to be spayed. She risks a higher chance of cancers the more you let her go in and out of heat over and over. Any reason she is not spayed yet? And have him checked for UTI. If he's clear, then its because the female is unspayed or other territorial issues. I'd confine him to one room with his own box for a few days and make sure he is using it 100% of the time. You also might want to add another box; some cats don't like sharing the same litter pan.
