Has anyone used the CatGenie Litterbox? I'm thinking of getting one and I want to know if it really works and if it has any problems. I have 3 cats and currently use a Cat Privy. Thanks.

I've never tried the Genie -- I've tried plenty of others -- they work fine at first and then they get dirty - smelly hard to clean and put back together, malfunction, etc...... and in my experience, nothing beats the plain old litter box with clumping litter. I scoop the litter boxes out every morning.

I have 4 cats with 2 litter boxes "going" at all times and I have 2 spares.

I switch them out every couple of months with clean ones. I soak the "dirty" ones in the basement washtubs with dish soap, a little vinegar and a few drops of bleach. I dry them outside in the sunshine and then they're ready for next time.

I wonder if the rule of thumb about litterboxes applies to the Genie? One litterbox for every cat plus one? or if because it flushes and cleans the litter after every use, it negates it?
