Hi everyone,
I am a new member to this forum. We have a 14 year old cat who is generally in good health although a few things have cropped up this past year as he ages. We know he has started moving a bit slower as we all do as we get older. He seems lately to have a bit more trouble getting up on the sofa etc. and going up and down stairs etc. I'm sure he has arthritis and his joints are becoming stiff.
Have any of you used any sort of dietary supplement etc. for this and if so would you give me some ideas on which ones are the best and safest to use? There is so much stuff out there that I really don't know which one to go with.
Thank you so very much.

Rosie

I think he will need something to take away the pain.

I have an 11 year old cat who I have on Cosequin for arthritis. It is a little expensive, but it's not outrageous. And the good thing is I can give it to her only when she needs it, so one box can last a while.

If you give your cat Cosequin, you shouldn't need to give any more supplements. Just make sure you are feeding a high quality senior diet, access to plenty of water, litter boxes with low sides, and offer some play time at least twice a week. Being older with arthritis, your cat needs a chance to stretch their muscles and tendons and joints, but you don't want to over exert them. If they are still fairly active, then increase the play time to maybe 5 times a week or once a day.

I was going to suggest the Cosequin for Cats as well.  It made a world of difference for my boy Spike.

Hmmmmm. I think I'll look into that for my senior New Kitty -- all in all she does pretty good, but there are days when I can tell she is very stiff.

This is good information! I have a 2 1/2 year old cat who had a left rear leg injury when she was a kitten.  Can tell already that she her leg bothers her during colder weather: Last Winter she was going down the stairs on 3 legs.

Does this come in cat chew form or is it a powder that would be mixed in with her food?
