As long as you don't have any other cats, you can feed her as much as she wants when she's a kitten. There's not really such a thing as too much food until they reach around the 9 month old mark. This is when they can be weaned onto adult food (you can wean them as late as 12 months old).

Once they are on adult food, you can continue to feed them as much as they want. This method is called Free Feeding. It works great with cats that are 'grazers', if you will. They nibble here and nibble there throughout the day. You just fill their bowl up when it gets low.

When they reach the 9-12 month old mark, just be concious of your cat's weight. If they start to get too pudgy, simply put them on a Portion Control feeding routine. I have four cats, so this is what I do. I feed each of my cats 1/4 cup twice daily at 7:00am and 6:00pm.

As of now, feed her what she wants. I recommend Iams (this can cause weight can in adult cats, though), Science Diet, Nutro, or Purina Pro Plan. These are good quality and reasonably priced.

I hope this helps!

I was just wondering this, slightly off-topic, if you're feeding your adult cats a high end dry food, what if any difference is there between that and a run of the mill kitten food? I'm feeding my fur family Blue Buffalo Wilderness, (see ingredient list here http://www.bluebuff.com/products/cats/wilderness-cat.shtml it looks like a better quality food than this: http://www.petfooddirect.com/store/product_detail.asp?pf%5Fid=3012444&dept%5Fid=5&brand%5Fid=14&Page=&mscssid=S2PM75DEV9F19GEP9UUN81S4RE9X0R89

or almost on par with this: http://www.petfooddirect.com/store/product_detail.asp?pf%5Fid=3012320&dept%5Fid=5&brand%5Fid=913&Page=&mscssid=S2PM75DEV9F19GEP9UUN81S4RE9X0R89

So nutritionally, is there a difference between a high-end adult food and most kitten foods?

I free feed kittens up to 4-5 months old.  They would have a dish of dry to nibble on and once a day of canned food (maybe twice depending on their size/weight).  After 5 months old, they get fed like and adult - one meal of dry, one meal of canned.
