I used to feed pet promise, which is an excellent food! It's not organic, but it's pretty darn close. Innova carries the names EVO, California Natural and a couple of others. EVO has an extremely high protein content, which cats usually do well on, but 2 of my cats couldn't tolerate the high protein, so I switched to california natural which has lesser protein and only like 5 ingredients plus vitamins. It's for cats that have sensitivities.

My TARGET has started selling Newman's own organic pet foods.

PETCO sells pet promise and Organix

PETSMART carries some good stuff too, though I don't think they sell organic stuff, though that depends on where you live.

There's always WHOLEFOODS of course if you have one near by or EARTH FARE. They are usually pricey though.

Many local pet stores will carry premium brands also. by the way, none of the above foods were involved in the pet food recall. Google pet food labels to educated yourself on the best quality pet foods.

PETFOODDIRECT.COM is also a great place to get any food you would like. If you go to COUPONCODE.COM you can almost always find a 10-12% coupon code for petfooddirect.com which will offset the shipping and handling costs.

Good luck! let us know what you decided on.

RE: High Quality Cat Foods

I am feeding my 2 cats a very high quality cat kibble which is made by the Blue Buffalo company. Their web address is"

www.bluebuff.com or call 1-800-919-2833

Their "Wilderness" brand has no animal by-products, no corn, no wheat or soy and is glutin free. It has chicken, sweet potatoes, carrots, blueberries, cranberries, flax seeds and other good ingredients. My cats love it. Although it is made in America, I can also buy it in Canada at Petsmart.

I give them a vet recommended "large sized" kibble also to help keep their teeth clean. Hope that this helps you...your cat is sooo beautiful!!!

Cat with Kits

RE: High Quality Cat Foods

I Love Petfoodirect, if just to read labels before I go shopping. It is specific for cats in chronic renal failure but all cats can eat it and benefit from it. All my cats like it although they do sometimes get weary of the same food. It is so good to know there is a nice quantity of quality foods out there for our furry babies.

RE: High Quality Cat Foods

My trio will eat Nature's logic kibble but not the moist food, though i prefer their moist food to their kibble for nutritional reasons. Evangers (http://www.evangersdogfood.com/cat/ )is also good, made in the USA with fresh products you would eat yourself (Rachel Raye had a special on Food Network soley about making your own dog foods, and it featured Evanger's). Natural balance is also good, Paul Newman's pet food is also good. Spot's stew is good, but the one time I tried buying it for my feline family, they refused to eat it, and it reminded me a bit too much of Campbells soup, it smelled exactly the same at least.

Merrick is another brand to look into though at present they only make canned foods for cats. The training treats if you can cut thm smaller, are an excellent treat. 100% dehydrated beef or lamb lung<a href="http://www.merrickpetcare.com/store/" target=_"blank" class="SmlLinks">http://www.merrickpetcare.com/store/.

wysong kibble and moist foods are probably some of the best out there. the moist food is feline/canine meaning it has enough protein in it for both species. <a href="http://www.wysong.net/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=WOTTPWS&Product_Code=WDARBU&Category_Code=FD&Product_Count=10" target=_"blank" class="SmlLinks">http://www.wysong.net/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=WOTTPWS&Product_Code=WDARBU&Category_Code=FD&Product_Count=10 they also manufacture a pre packaged raw diet for those of you who want to and can afford to do that.

RE: High Quality Cat Foods

Some other good brands I can think of are:

Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul, Wellness, Spot's Stew, Castor & Pollux Organix, Diamond Naturals, Felidae, Innova (regular and EVO), Prairie, and Taste of the Wild.

RE: High Quality Cat Foods

im sorry about your cat i have a question how come when someone replies

to your email it doesnt show in your inbox like when you replied to me about the cat food i rember the name now forest pine organic theres commericals on cable charter for it

RE: High Quality Cat Foods

how did you get that moving thing with the names???

RE: High Quality Cat Foods

I haven't tried this one, but I've heard good things about Spa Select. I sometimes get a small bag and give it as treats. As it is high quality, is better for the cats and cost much less than actual treats. I prefer to use the Royal Canin for the simple fact that is has immunity boost for my Vixen. She is FeLv+ and we want to ensure she gets the best quality food and care possible. This is also why we feed the almo nature wet. It is colorant free, preservative free, additive free and consists of only all nature ingredients. They absolutely love the wet. I mean you have to see this stuff. You open a can of tuna and shrimp for example and that is what it is. Not processed junk. There are entire shrimp and flaked tuna inside. It smells wonderful and according to my husband it tastes good too. (Don't even ask LOL he said if his cats are going to eat it then he wants to test it first. :w00t

RE: High Quality Cat Foods

CoolKat,

Organic food is difficult to find. Usually grocery stores don't carry it, but you should be able to find some at a specialty pet store. Around here, in Ohio, our main pet stores are Pet Supplies Plus, Pet Smart and Pet Co. There are others, but those are the main chains.

Have you tried typing "Organic Cat Food" into Google.com and seeing what the results are? Once you find a brand, then call your local pet stores to see if they carry it. Some manufacture websites offer a distributor locator so all you have to do is type in your zip code and it will show you the closest distributor to you.

I hope this helps!

Thank you Kittycatsdelight. I will look into it to see if we have it here in the states. Have you tried this food before? Has your experience been a good one?

Thanks again everyone!

RE: High Quality Cat Foods

We have a high quality holistic cat food here (in Italy) called Almo Nature. The canned wet is all natural consisting of meat, cooking broth and rice (sometimes a veggie too depending on flavor). The kibble is holistic. The website if you want to check it out is here. It is actually a company from Sweden. My cats enjoy their wet food. This is the list I have so far:

Science diet, Iams, Nutro (Max Cat and Natural Choice), Royal Canin, Halo and Solid Gold.

The brands can be dry canned, pouches, raw, organic, holistic, whatever. I'm just looking for something that is very high quality- so not your family dollar brand. (Not that if anyone feeds thier cat a family dollar brand that it's bad! I don't want to insult anyone here!)

I'd appreciate your insight! Thanks!

P.S. Keep those possible FeLV+ cat shelter suggestions coming too!
