I am truly sorry. I know what it feels like to lose a beloved cat & best friend. My cat died July 26, 2007. He was the best cat anyone could ever have. I miss him dearly. Again, I'm very sorry for the loss. If you need support, you can keep in touch with me. We might have a [big] age difference, but in losing a beloved pet (cat) & best friend, it doesn't matter.

I'm sorry everything seems to fall apart at once. I'm only hearing your side of the story and cannot see the conditions of the cats or your place - only what you are telling us. Seems to me there might be more to the story.

I'm only guessing there was more to this then you've told. Under normal circumstances people (Animal Control) doesn't just take animals away unless there is medical problems or the animals are not healthy or in a healthy environment. So I cannot be on either side.

I hope your situation can improve and maybe in the future you can own another pet.

Also, the Saturday after the Animal Warden and Housing Inspector came, Miss Twiggy did start bleeding from her butt. So we knew something was wrong. Not even given a chance to take her to the vet for help.

Can all of you understand our dilema.

Hi, Thank You so much for responding.

My husband and I have lived in our apartment for 22 years.

We always had cats.

Someone in our apt. building complained of an odor coming from our apt.

Our 7 year old little girl, Miss Twiggy, was going in the dining room right near the front door. It was hard to keep up with.

I would clean it up as best I could with rug cleaner.

I use a power chair and my husband is totally blind.

The leasing agt from our building came up to our apt.

She saw Twiggys problem and called the Health Dept. The Housing Dept came out with the Animal Warden.

At the time they said we could keep our 6 year old, named Bernie. That is the Animal Warden and one of the two housing inspectors. In fact, that housing inspector said he would even take Bernie and keep him at his house as he had cats. That never happened.

That was March 18, 2008. (A Wednesday)

The animal warden said that Miss Twiggy and our l3 year old (Little Leo)

would have to be put down. (They said Little Leo was 2 old to adopt out). She gave us until the following Monday. But she came on Wed.

March 26, 2008 and took them all.

We were in a trance. It seemed like one of those stories you hear on tv

about someone who adopted a baby and the birth mother wanted the baby back.

On Monday, March 3lst we went to the shelter to visit Bernie, they said there was a pending adoption on him. When we left, we were completely devastated. That night we drove to Pennsylvania with the intention on not coming back (we live in Ohio).

But we did come back that night.

Then, the adoption for Bernie did not go thru as he bit at the potential new owner, so she decided not to take him.

We didn't go to the shelter for awhile and then we called and he was still there in May. We went several times to visit him. I just wanted to grab him and run away.

Then they said he was up for another adoption but it did not go thru as they found he had a heart murmur. That person did not want him.

I made numerous calls to our apt. complex management, but the owner said the housing inspector report indicated, if we get new carpeting, we can't have any cats. He did suggest that there were other apt. complexes that would take cats.

We don't have the money to move.

What is so frustrating is that we have the original carpeting from when the building was put up about 40 years ago. Sure there is a musty smell as there is no more padding. Feels like your walking on concrete.

To this day, we still have not received our new carpeting.

There were so many phone calls and begging on our part, but it did no good.

I reached a breaking point this past weekend. No one seems to understand why we miss our cats so much. We have had 8 cats total over the years. Haven't been without a cat since 1982.

Feels like our kids were taken from us and murdered. I just could not take it anymore.

Sounds like your cat had a bladder infection or something more serious wrong. Untreated bladder infections make the kidneys shut down and cause a painful death. You cat was probably peeing by the door to try and tell you about her infection -- and that she needed help -- cats do that.

Pets can't take care of themselves and are at our mercy as far as quality of life goes/living conditions. I know you must really miss your cats but it sounds like you were having a hard time taking care of them with no help. I hope your sitation improves.

Animal control or the ASPCA? They wouldn't have euthanized the cats for no reason.
