His coat is very thick and cotton like ,It will stay whatever way you put it, it is not silky at all. Him and his sisters are all solid blue with white but they are short hair. There faces seem broader and flater than most domesitics I have seen but I am sure the are part stray domestic. There eyes are a really pretty green with a little yellow which I found odd for kittens barely 6 wks old. Even the short coats on the girls was very plush and thick. Also the hair on his tail is short right now, is it because he is loosing his baby coat? He is very playful and lovable and tends to meow alot when he wants stuff Thanks

RE: Need help figuring out what breed of cat you have?

Im guessing he's just a tabby but Im not sure exactly-

RE: Need help figuring out what breed of cat you have?

She looks like Siberian and Angora mix to me. Can you identify the breed and colors they match best?

The mother looks golden or cream, one kittens is light brown with
pinkish tint, and the other kitten is
really dark red (cinnimon?). Zero white spotting, but
lighter fur under the chin. Fur on all three is dark
down the spine and gets lighter and lighter as it
extends to the stomach. The color on each individual
hairshaft starts out the darkest at the end, but gets
uniformaly lighter and lighter the closer it gets to
the skin, but never turns white, even at the base.
Could these cats be brown, cinnimon, fawn, golden,
etc. or just different shades of standard red and
cream. Any suggestions would be appreciated?

Franklin

RE: Need help figuring out what breed of cat you have?

IMO your cat is a snowshoe or a mix thereof. They do learn how from their mothers, though, and since many indoor cats have never seen a mouse, they don't teach their kittens.

Your Gabe is a ginger tabby - he's just not a "classic" tabby. Tabbies come in three patterns: classic, mackeral, and spotted. Classic tabbies have the bullseye or butterfly patterns on their sides that you mentioned, mackerals have striped sides (similar to a fish skeleton), and spotted tabbies are just that - spotted! Loki looks like a spotted tabby and I think Gabe is probably a mackeral.

RE: Need help figuring out what breed of cat you have?

Thank you, that does make sense. A calico by definition is a tortoiseshell with white. The term has been used to describe the difference in the 'ticked' kind of pattern in the tortie and the more 'blotched' type of pattern in the calico. hope that makes sense.

Michelle

RE: Need help figuring out what breed of cat you have?

Loki's paws tell me his growth got stunted at some point, his paws are huge compared to the rest of him. His Tom was a large chap, twice Loki's adult size, at 3 years old he's obviously not going to be his dad's size. When he wants to be picked up he's like lifting a silk shirt.

Gabe is like lifting a brick, but from what I read about Ragdolls, he could be part Ragdoll. (Furry ball of jello!) His muzzle is v shaped, and he's very vocal, but what short haired breeds are big bodied?

Loki is a U shaped muzzle, very quiet, light as a feather. His mom was a feral calico, and his Tom looked like a much bigger version of Gabe. He's missing the bullseye on his side to be called a full fledged ginger tabby but he has spots on his hind quarters, and stripes everywhere else.

The boys are best buds, they groom each other, play together, share food, everything.

Is calico it's own breed or is it just a description of coloration?

RE: Need help figuring out what breed of cat you have?

What cuties! We adpoted her from the Humane Society in Oct. 2007. She was abandoned by her previous owner and left behind in the house when they moved out. The new home owners found her when they moved in and she was near death. As you can see the Humane Society nursed her back to health. She is spayed and not declawed. They estimated her to be between 3 and 4 years old. They said that she was DLH. Our vet said that she looked to be something else but wasn't sure what. Her fur is very soft and silky. Her name given to her at the shelter was Janet, but the kids wanted to call her Softy, lol. We comprimised on Sophie. She is very affectionate, follows me everywhere, loves sitting on laps, very playful and is very tolorante of other cats and my kids (8 years, 6 years, and 16 months). Her fur hasn't gotten matted except once under her chin, she has greenish eyes, large paws and the under side is all white. Sophie meows a lot and she "talks" sounds like meowing and purring at the smae time kind of. Any thoughts on what a correct desciption for my Sophie would be?

RE: Need help figuring out what breed of cat you have?

Well jmsppk_123 your cat is a DSH ( domestic shorthair) color black and white Tuxedo

myButters & me your cat is a DSH color orange and white Tabby

Hope that helps...

RE: Need help figuring out what breed of cat you have?

Hi!
