We bring ours pretty much once a week on account of the vet is a couple doors down and sometimes I lie awake night worrying about their health, being as germs cant be seen and you never know how many is in there. But sometimes if its very busy the receptionsit comes out in the parking lot waving her arms saying we cant come in.

We take Kato to the Vet at least once a year and when he needs to go. Didn't take him on his reason spell as he was eating and using his litter box. He just had a check up and was all right at that time. As we moved out of the area we; we had to find a new vet. A friend recommend this vet and Kato took to her. I was surprise to learn that my old vet fax Kato health records to the new vet.

take my cats to the vets once a year for their yearly shots. then if they get sick i take them to the vets. i have had to take my one year old to the vets three times in the last week. he has a cold and keeps sneezing.

Our guys go in at least once a year, whether they're due for vaccinations or not. (Our vet uses 3-year rabies vaccinations, and once a year for others.) My husband and I like the security of the vet saying "Yes, they're in good health." We have a 4-month period each year that we see the vet with a different cat (or group of cats - Cooper and Lilo go together). Then, we get our human checkups to make the cats feel better.

Our boy is 15 so he will be checked twice a year. We just adopted him in June and he had his first visit with our vet within that week. He had a follow up visit 3 weeks later so she could re-check his eyes.

Coming from the SPCA he caught URI and had bad issues with his eyes.

Of course if anything comes up he'll be at the vet as needed.

Really most vaccines last for more than a year (yes they last 1 and a half or a little longer). But usually vets prefer going sure. And normally it's easier to remember the same month every year. And if you go late you are in time. It doesn't matter if the cat goes out or not. The vaccine last what it last.

If you go every 18 moths you must not go late. And it's not only the shots. You should check the cat, just like we should check ourselves

Before I took my cats to vet once per year for the vaccine booster. But recently I had read from cats magazines that vaccine booster is recommended for 18 months instead of annually. Some magazines even mentioned that vaccine booster is not necessary for those 100% indoored cats. I had talked with my vet whom agree with the 18 months vaccine booster.

Okay I'm horrible, I don't believe in yearly shots for indoor only cats. Pea's been to the vet twice maybe three times her entire life, shots, spay and microchipping. (she's 5-6years old)

Loki has probably been to the vet once a year, The $500 hairball, then because his paws were just horribly dry cracked and bleeding, and now for the cut on his back paw. (He's 3-4 years old)

Gabe I got the health plan for, which completely covered his shots, and neuter, and he needs to go in for a Healthy kitty checkup and he's 1. (I should've added Pea and Loki to his plan for $10 each. )

My cats have only been to the vet once to get fixed and even then we couldn't afford it. The SPCA helped us out. In fact, we ended up spending $500 in vet bills for our late cat Buddy, and then still owe $124 more because we had to have him put to sleep. He had diabetes and the vet we took him to diagnosed it correctly, but put him on the wrong medicine. (glipizide instead of insulin) We later took him to the vet his first owner took him too and found out cats should never be given glipizide because it causes organ failure! (which is exactly what it did with Buddy, the first vet even said he was concerned about Buddy's kidneys.) If one of our little ones was sick, we would try to get up the money to get them to the vet, but it is so expensive.

I take Jasmine and Chloe to the vet once a year. They get their updated shots and their ears and mouth examined. They also get a quick flea check. The first time that we went to the vet with our two girls Chloe had some fleas I was horrified. They don't go outside so how did they get them darn fleas. The vet told us we might have brought the fleas in on our clothes. Now they get a flea treatment once a month. Fleas are a tough thing to get rid of.

Unfortunately our cats only go to the vet when I suspect that something might be wrong. We're strapped for money right now, so the last time either cat saw a vet was when they were fixed. My hope is that our jobs (and whole financial situation) will improve in the near future and we'll be able to afford yearly checkups for all the animals.

I currently have 7 cats ranging in age from 23 - 6 yrs old. My cats all go to the vets together once a yr for their annual checkup and shots. They go other times thru out the yr if one of them should be abnormally sick or acting out of character.I have 1 paralysed cat( about 3yrs now) who is expresed 3 x daily so he can pee & poop we have to watch him for urinary tract infections carefully so far he has been good - no infections.So they all will be heading again to their dr shortly.I feel it's a must if you want your best friends to remain healthy and free of disease if outdoor cats!Have also had other high risk cats in past feline leukeimia,enlarge heart muscle etc. if you care for them and keep them healthy you will be rewarded with great pleasures!

Normaly I take my two kittys to the vet only for their anual check up to get shots and stuff, but resently Sock's asthma has gotten alot worse so I have to go at least twice for every time my other babie Melda goes.

Well serves me right after I posted that I had to take one of my kitties to the vet and he needs a surgery.

He's hand anal sac problems for a while now and he needs to get them removed.

I voted "Once Per Year," but if one of the choices had been "As Often As My Vet Tells Me," I'd have chosen that. My kitties are all young, one less than two years old and two are 11 months old, so right now the vet only needs to see them once a year for their shots. But if they appear ill, they go to the vet. The two kittens each have had one upper respiratory infection since I had them and one has also had coccidia, so they've been a few times. The oldest one will be going back for her shots in another week or so.

My babies go to the vet whenever I have any questions about their health. I would rather error on the side of caution than miss something serious. Even if my cats might have other thoughts about going to the vet.
If their regular vet has any doubts we go to the internal medicine specialist or the university hospital. Going multiple times to the regular vet with no answers is much more expensive than going to a specialist if need be. Trying to save money on the front end always ends up costing more later. My babies cannot tell me when they are sick and they only show subtle signs early on, so I am very careful in watching their eating patterns, potty boxes, etc. There are 7 cats/kittens living with me now and one feral outside. I have huge vet bills and little money, but I have had debt and I have had guilt, I can live with the debt.

When my two boys were younger, they went to the vet twice a year...once for shot updates and a second time for a physical and teeth cleaning. Funny-Face went more often than that because he is very prone to UTIs. Two years ago, Tux started to lose weight drastically and we discovered he had CRF. He had no problems with going to the vet's office, so I took him there every 3rd day for sub-Q treatments (I could have done it at home, but as long as Tux wasn't getting stressed at the office, I took him there so the vet could see his condition and I can tell them anything new I observed in him). Tux died july 31, 2006. A month later, his brother started showing signs of CRF - leg twitches, excessive thirst, sleeps most of the time, etc. He was diagnosed with renal failure. He has a mortal fear of the vet's office (I'm sure it is because most of his experiences with the dr have been getting cathederized during a bout of bladder infection) and the last time I took him to the office, his heartbeat became irregular and he started panting hard from terror (it stopped when he got in the car). The vet suggested it might be better to keep the office visits as limited as possible...meaning only come in when it is a dire emergancy. So, the next time Funny-face goes to the vet will be for the horrible last time, if it comes to that unless he gets plugged up following a bladder infection. I am still in contact with my vet though...I sub-Q Funny-Face at home and buy prescription food for him there, so I see the vet at least once a week. Once a month, I take a urine sample in with me to be tested for blood...sign of a kidney infection. I weigh him daily and if he loses more than 1 pound, I inform the vet. I also call the office anytime I see any new development.

So far this year it's been about four trips. We just got our cats within the past 6 months. We had to have them neutered/spayed. And vaccines. Then we had to return for the distemper/parvo vaccine. Then I took them back one more time for stool sample checks and FIV and Feline Leukemia blood tests. Yep...now I'm broke!

But with four kids, I have to be careful what I'm bringing into the house. Hopefully, everyone is all healthy now!

Each of my cats get checked at least once a year. Each also goes to the vet in between times as necessary to check out any new illnesses. My 20 year old, Nefer-kitty (the one with CRF) goes in every 2 weeks.

I take them once a year for their shots, but I take them as many times needed if they get sick or have any other problems that concern me.
