Not exactly an "impulse" purchase - but we adopted Ginger from a shelter that uses PetSmart's space on weekends. So then on her 3rd birthday earlier this year, we got a birthday card from PetSmart with a coupon in it for a free toy. Found a rather realistic-looking brown mouse that was CFA-licensed - figured if the Cat Fanciers Association licensed it, it was probably a pretty good toy.

Ginger loves that mouse and seems to understand that this is her toy. It travels all over the house. Harley also loves it and believes it must be hungry - I just had to remove it from their dry food bowl again!

I went to Petsmart last night to get "calmative" for my 2 cats to help integrate them.

I saw a mouse shaped laser light that I purchased for under $5.00. It was well worth

the cost. My new kitty loved it & it is great exercise for her and pure enjoyment for me watching her antics. She loves it!

I always buy sparkle and crinkle balls and they get used. My unused impulse buy was a crinkle tunnel that no cats use. I thought because they love hiding in grocery bags, they would go for this, but no. Perhaps when it's cold and they cannot hang out in the backyard (fenced) they will get into it.

I just purchased Halloween costumes for my 5 cats at Petsmart (ended up paying like 50 bucks!!! ). I will probably only TRY to put them on them to TRY to take ONE picture and never use them again. That is why I hate going to Petsmart cuz I can never leave there without spending less than 50 bucks!!!

I rarely buy toys for the boys. Catnip mice are the only store bought things they play with. The last impules purchase was a Petsmart watering dish, it has a small pump that sends water down a ramp. this has stopped Comet from splashing the water out of the water bowl. It also has a charcoal filter and they seem to drink more water now. The ball Gizmo is playing with bounced off the wall, hit him in the head and he will have nothing to do with anything that rolls.

There are two choices in the photo area, you click the BROWSE and this one opens the photo folder in you computer so it appears in the post.

Well the photo on the far right is our newest addition Walter, he's black & white but in the light is fur has a brown tinge to it. Walter is the house Ninja. There's always a sneak attack being planned or executed around the house whether it be vs. the ottoman or his favorite box.

George is on the left, he's the orange and white and he is my little love machine, believe it or not he has never been a days worth of trouble. He loves to sing.

I bought that for Walter and he's too short to reach it. George will rub on it, cuz he has no claws(he arrived that way).

I couldn't get tommy into the cat grass I bought him a few months ago. He's not interested in cat nip either, which kinda sucks.

My last impulse purchase was this door scratch post but it doesn't work very well because it swings too much every time they try to claw on it.

Well, last week I went out to the PetSupermarket to get a harness for my baby girl because she wants outside so much, Well I ended up getting new tags for my babies, because my little boy didnt like the last one, it had a bell attached. so I got new ones for both of them, and then i just HAD to get collars that matched. And now with the new little boy I need to go get his badge engraved and a collar to match. They are so Spoiled. Oh an
d I almost forgot, I got new treats too while I was there.

I just buy new toiys all the time. It is really a waste of money because most of the time the cats just sniff of them and walk away.

I went to see a cat pedestal. It was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. I looked around and found a small cat tree with a slanting scratching post and a napping bed at the top. It had a smudge at the base and was reduced for clearance.

kafetez: I watched the new turbo video -- now I have to get one. The old kind is all of my cats fav. toy! I recently bought them one where the ball goes around the on the side, but the videos should adding several kits together.

Looks pretty cool!

The last impulse buy was a Hawaiian shirt for Jack...it's from Walmart and part of the Max line...I loved it cause the little wooden buttons are fish...

Honestly, Jack doesn't mind getting dressed up..too much...just wait until I get his Puss-in-Boots outfit...

I found the best new toy last night on Amazon, it's the Bergan Turbo Track, its the like the toy with a ball on a track but it can be built into different shapes like a figure 8.

If you think Pepper is spoiled...

Kearstie has to have a taste of their canned food before the dishes are put down for them. She gets on top of a chair that I have to go past to take the dishes to the feeding area and waits for her taste. Then the royal princess must be carried to her dish - she cannot walk to it like the others - gently placed down in front of it, and you must pet her while she begins to eat. If you don't carry her, she will not go eat. If you put her down but do not pet her, she will walk away from the food without touching it.

Of course, five minutes later when you aren't looking, she will go to the feeding area and chomp down on the dry food like nobody's business! By that time, the dry food is all that's available, the two "commoners" do not respect her royalty and will gobble their own wet food plus hers.

Whenever we go to a store such as like petsmart or walmart or something we like to try new kitty food brands or flavors for pepper. but there was this one time that we ended up getting a brush comb and some pink kitty shampoo for her! Pepper is a very spoiled kitty! She "has" to have a mix of catfoods instead of just one brand and she will only eat pounce moist treats! i just say WOW

Everytime i go to the store for cat food and litter, I see something that I think my cat might like. If meets my ideas of what is safe for my cat, I'll get it. My cat, well, technically a kitten yet, still has the very strange habit of gagging himself on anything long enough to fit in his mouth and make it to the back of his throat.

Well, since I originally answered this question, I got laid off - so impulse purchases are now something that does not exist in this household. But if I did buy anything at all on impulse, it would be something for the kitties!

If I'm doing the usual Food and litter trip to petsmart I'm more prone to impulse purchases. Last night I pulled out a cart at Petsmart, and someone had left behind coupons I could use. So i made some impulse buys because of the coupons.

Otherwise I buy it because it looks like something I just have to try.

I try to buy my cats a new toy or treat once a month. It keeps things exciting for them. I buy toys I believe will stimulate my cats to bring out and hone their natural instincts. My cats really enjoy toys with feathers and bells.

But I suppose if I 'schedule' to buy my cats something once a month, that's not really an impulse buy is it?

I saw these catnip-filled toys called "Wubbas." They look like octopusses with a duck or rabbit head. They have hard bodies, plush fur, and long dangly legs that have crinkle material in them. Thought my three would enjoy them - they could cuddle up with them or bat them around, and I bought one for each cat.

Kearstie is afraid of them! Ginger would like to play with them but isn't allowed - Harley immediately claimed all three as his, and chases Ginger away if she goes near one. Oh well!

I went to PetSmart to buy catnip and walked out with a beautiful cat bed that was on sale. My cats sleep with me, but this bed just looked so cozy, I thought maybe they would like to nap on it in the living room during the daytime. Now I have to buy 3 more beds so that each purr baby has his / her own lounger.
Maybe the beds will be their Christmas presents.
