Keep the kittens separated until she is spayed. Kittens as young as 4-5 months old can and do breed. And schedule him to be neutered too - it will take up to 2 months for him to be "safe" around females and not get them pregnant.

Don't underestimate a 5 month old male! Today's kittens (like people) are getting mature a lot sooner. A siamese breeder found that out (back in the 80's) - her little 5 month old kitten was running with adult females - one that was in heat. He became a father at 7 months! Keep those kittens separated!

Most males cannot breed at 5 months, usually they come of age at about 7-8 months old. So I wouldn't worry too much about her getting pregnant by her brother. Just make sure she doesn't get outside. If you see the two of them "getting frisky", you might want to separate them, but I really don't think the 5-month-old male is capable of anything yet.

Your vet can still spay her when she is in heat, it's just a bit more complicated - same if she's two weeks pregnant, too. If you can't get her spayed sooner than 2 weeks from now, just keep her inside at all costs - she will go a little psycho with her desire to breed, but you may have to just ride it out until she can be spayed. Not only is it best to spay her to keep her from adding to the pet overpopulation problem, but she can get diseases like FIV (cat HIV) if she is bred.

In just 2 weeks, your cat could mate with the male and become pregnant. By the time she is pregnant, there is no way to undo it. Even just 5-month-old kittens can have kittens! At 5 months old, kittens are too young to have kittens, but their bodies don't understand that. They won't have a clue what to do when the newborns come out. They probably would not even have enough milk to nurse the kittens. You cannot just have newborns come out and give them away to other people, even people that have experienced mother cats that can take care of them. The newborns will need extra special care when they come out, that only their mothers can give them. And a kitten wouldn't know how to take care of the kitten.

The kitten may also spray, which is kind of like pee but they use it to mark their territory. She would spray all over the walls and furniture. If you let her do it, She will get in the habit of doing it, a non-stop unbreakable nasty habit. To prevent this, you could put her in an isolated room and take out everthing the male has touched. Clean the walls and floor with nice smelling spray that will eliminate the male's odor. Keep her in there until she is spayed. If she is showing signs of pregnancy, PM me immediately! Please update me with how she's acting and what she's doing and how the plan is working out if you choose to use it. Please try it and see how it works! It's better than helpless newborns suffering! I breed cats and I'm a vet, so I know a lot about this!

I hope someone can help me. My girl kitten in 5 months old and she is in heat. I am having her spayed in two weeks. Her brother is of the same age, and I do not know if she will want/try to get her brother to sleep with her. I have never owned unaltered cats before, this is all new to me. Can anyone help me?
