I would definetely pick up momma and either keep her till babies are born or drop her off at a no-kill shelter. You might try calling some of these shelters to find out if anything can be done. They can advise you of their policies. I don't recommended ever dropping them off as strays. In Illinois they are immediently brought in to the city pound. Just advise them that she is running all over the neighborhood and her family doesn't take care of her.

I knew of a guy who told me he let his cat get pg so they could watch the miracle of birth. When the kittens became stuck inside he took her and threw her outside and she died on his doorstep. I found out about 1 month after it happened, if I had known I would've taken the body to PD and had him charged with animal neglect. He got it in the end, when I found out he was running an illegal business fixing houses and wasn't insured, and I also found out his wife was collecting welfare and he had extensive mouth surgery paid for by the tax payers. He cannot get medical thru the state now and owes the gov't money, plus they put him out of business and he can no longer work in his city.

You don't want this to happen to momma kitty, especially for her baby's sake. I think its so sad that some people just don't care what happens to their animals. sickening.

The exact same thing happened to me. Tiny blonde kitty, less than a year old and pregnant. The neighbors wound up in prison and the abandoned blonde kitty had her kittens under another neighbor's toolshed, next door to my house. Yet another neighbor trapped the mama and babies, and had them neutered/spayed and returned to live outside as ferals. A few of the kittens were adopted by various neighbors, and the mama and two remaining blonde boy kittens found their way to the catfood through my kitty door. The little blonde flat-ear feral kitties all play nicely with my two cats, they sleep in the house, eat premium catfood, get brushed at least once a day, and don't act feral at all anymore. I guess they're officially my cats. If I ever moved, I would certainly take them with me.

Really people that apparently doesn't care about their pets can get pretty angry if you say something to them.

I think is better not speak with them. And take the cat without saying anything as Supercat has said

I took in a stray pregnant mama and she had 5 beautiful calicos. I raised them myself until they were weaned and got the local shelter to help me place them. They were a joy to have around and they were quickly adopted out...even the mother. All but one got placed and I adopted her back. Her name is Pumpkin. If your neighbors don't care anymore about the poor kitty then she and her babies need a more loving home.

I was waiting to see if anybody would post a reply to you, but I guess not. I would take the cat to a no-kill shelter (if they have them in your city). They'll put momma in a foster home until the kittens are born and then spay her and all of her kittens -- then find them homes.

Do not confront or even talk to these people, especially if they are into drugs -- too dangerous.

Just wanted some advice from anyone who's been in this situation before. My friend has a neighbor who lets their cat outside free to roam during the day. From another neighbor, my friend has learned that the cat is less than a year old, does not wear a collar for identification, and is already pregnant. I want to inform this household that they need to get their cat spayed. I also am worried about the kittens. I do not want them running around as well- free to get injured. Any suggestions as to what I should do?

I'm hesitant to knock on their door and tell them how to take care of their pet, because the police have been there regularly due to drug accusations!
