I have seen people that writes a lot and know nothing. And even if you only takes into account the number of messages, those limits are ridiculous.

In my other Forum this are the levels (in blue squares, they have no name):

- No message: 0

- 1-49 messages: 5 (it's very strange, It should be 1)

- 50-149 messages: 2 (most people don't achieve this)

- 150-499: 3

- 500-1999: 4

- 2000 or more: 5 (only 15 members out of 3.290)

I think if you merit level by posting, you should post a lot.

RE: Member Levels

Here's how I think Member Levels should work:
Junior Member- 0 posts

Member- 30 posts

Senior Member- 50 posts

Forum Guru- 80 posts

Supreme Being- 100 posts and above

Because it's not fair if you have 80 posts and are only a member! That's not fair! And it's not fair that you have to get to like a 1,000 posts to become a supreme being! Like I said, that's not fair. Have I made my point? I'de better of. Thank you for reading this.

RE: Member Levels

I think if you want to know how many messages has post anyone that has answer. You only need to look at your left, because the information is there.

The only way the little squares can tell you something about the experience of the member would be if that squares are acquired because people give points to the member.

I know other Forums and some people writes a lot, and it is a lot of rubbish. So the number of messages doesn't give that kind of information

It's always interesting trying to guess how the level is acquired

RE: Member Levels

I always thought that a live chat type forum would be so cool -- you've seen them, you type and refresh your screen and groups can talk back and forth right away. What does it take to be promoted to "Forum Guru" or "Supreme Being"? Shouldn't there be a specific number of posts required for each level?
Perhaps, if there is a specific number of posts required, you could let us know what those numbers are.
This post is my number 315. Some members with fewer posts are @ "Forum Guru" level. Which levels are ranked higher / lower, etc.

RE: Member Levels

Thank you all so much for your feedback. Again it seems like a demotion to me too. Also the lack of speed and the ERROR pages feel like a large wast of time and that is a shame when we all got pleasure out of trying to help people and meeting many new people I now cal good friends. So I do think you for that. But I fear that many will stop participating and just vanish as SO many have already done. You had a good thing going Please don't let is fall away. Sincerely.

RE: Member Levels

You're right - I guess it doesn't really matter what our membership level is, but it was just such a surprise. I was demoted? What did I do wrong? And their explanation doesn't really make sense because I wasn't posting any less. It seems like once you achieve a level, you should be able to keep it.

RE: Member Levels

Here here Tonklady & Daisey!!! I do appreciate the explanation of the membership levels. Although I don't really care that much what my member level is, I watched mine go from guru to senior member and wondered what rhyme or reason was being used. I do have to confess that I was flattered to be elevated to guru, and was a little disappointed to see that I'd been demoted to senior member.

And I have to agree with Tonklady about the speed of the site. It's getting worse, and I've gotten several of those "expired" messages too. I'd hate to mark the site off my list with several friends out here and a 12-year-old cat plus a 10-month-old kitten in the house right now, and quite possibly a very young kitten in the near future. It's been so long since I've had kittens, and I've never had a geriatric cat before, so I really do value this site. But jeepers, it's getting slower than Christmas!

RE: Member Levels

I have to agree with tonklady. As much as I really love coming to Cat Channel, I get so frustrated with long wait times and expired pages and pms that go POOF and dissappear. Member levels go up and down without regard to participation and time donated. I've seen tonklady and KATTY go from Guru to Senior member, overnight regardless of continuous participation. Now that probably doesn't bother them that much 'cause I'm sure they're not here for the glory, but for us newbies, it often helps to know just how experienced a person is who's posting an answer. Those ratings do matter at times. Not picking apart the Cat Channel, just trying to make it run better. I just don't have the time to sit and wait for something to happen. Isn't there anything you can do t speed things up? Now there is something new happening. When you look at the pictures of the new cats, and try to go back to the screen you started from, you get a screen that says the page expired - then you have to go back to the beginning and start over! I love this site, and it's almost getting too frustrating to use!

RE: Member Levels

Hello Cat Moderator,

Thank you for letting us know,I know many have been wondering.

Member Levels

Hi Everyone,

I have received several questions asking how member levels work. The more replies you post, and the more frequently you post will increase your member level. If you are off the forums for a while and don't post for a few days or start to reply less often, your membership level will decrease. This is all automated. If you notice your member level decrease, you can easily build it back up by increasing how many and how often you post. Hope that helps! Thanks!
