I'm sure in no time you will become an expert in cats

RE: My First Kitten

It looks like you have a very nice kitten.

I have some advice since this is your first cat. I treat cats very differently than dogs. Dogs are a pack animal and you have to establish your rank with them. Not so with cats. I treat them as my equal. In a nutshell, I have a zero discipline approach to raising cats. If they want to shread the drapes, let them! Next time get vertical blinds. You don't want your cat to be nervous and aloof. I don't even use the water gun anymore! Of course you want to reinforce good behaviour.

Good luck with your new family member. I find cats are just as affectionate as dogs, dispite what some people think.

RE: My First Kitten

OH!

You are so beautiful Nerna! I go to answer it and there is a box sitting on the front porch with loud MEOWS coming from it. I was in complete shock! I couldn't believe someone dropped a kitten off at my front door. I never had a cat before and I have three dogs, so I was thinking that there was no way I could keep her. I was planning on giving her to one of my friends or putting an add in the paper the next day. So overnight I played with her, andshe cuddled with me and slept on my head and I fell absolutely in love with her. So the next day instead of giving her away, I went to the pet shop and spent about $200! Now we're a big happy family! I'm very glad I kept her, and I think she's turned me into a huge cat lover!
