I concur with everyone's advice that has already posted - this is something you need to see your vet about, you don't want a kitty cold or URI to worsen into pneumonia. Cats can get very sick very quickly! But the good news is, my somewhat expensive vet charged me about $50 recently when one of mine had the sneezies & sniffles and had to have amoxicillin - so if you get the kitten seen to soon, it may not cost too much.

One thing I'd suggest that I didn't see mentioned already - URIs are indeed very contagious. It would be a kindness to the woman you got your kitten from if you let her know that the kitten has developed the sneezies - whatever it turns out to be - so she can be watching her remaining babies in case she needs to isolate one and take it to the vet.

That kind of illness can become cronical. It can be very disturbing. I would take her to the vet

Any time a kitten or cat is sneezing a lot or has mucus, etc. they should be seen by a vet. Upper respitory infections (URI) are passed from cat to cat. Since the kitten came from a place that might have had sick cats (you can have carriers which don't show symptoms), you should:

1. Take the kitten to the vet for URI and possible medications

2. Isolate the kitten from any other animals in the house - since its contagious, this is very important that the kitten has no contact with your other cat - or you will wind up with 2 sick cats and more vet bills.

An occasional sneeze with no mucus or runny nose is not to worry about - any thing else needs to have a vet visit.

I do think it's ABSOLUTELY necessary because he could have a cold and since he's a kitten, it's more dangerous for him.

For cat colds, they usually prescribe antibiotics and fluids IF the cat is dehydrated.

I just adopted a 12-week-old kitten from a lady who had several cats, none of which seemed to be sick at the time. The kitten, however (who we've named Chanel, nickname Cha Cha if anyone's interested) is sneezing semi-frequently and sounds like she has some mucous or something in her nose when she's breathing. Her play level is normal, though (actually she's bopping around a jingle ball right now behind my head), and she eats just fine. I'm not ready to bring her to the vet just yet if it's not an emergency, but do you guys think I should? I also have another cat (Mickey), who's around a year and a half old, and I don't want him to contract an infection if it happens to be contagious.. I just really don't have the money right now to bring her to the vet unless it's ABSOLUTELY necessary. What do you think?
