Some mama cats sure baby their little boys. But as long as she doesn't mind, it's fine. She'll kick him off when she's tired of it.

RE: Spayed Mother still nursing

If mom doesn´t object I think it is Ok.

RE: Spayed Mother still nursing

Kittens should remain with momcat until 12 weeks old. It should pose no problem for your kitten to continue to nurse from the spayed mom. Her milk will eventually dry up.

I imagine if you are keeping the male he will continue to try to nurse FOREVER! LOL -- momcat will decide what she wants.

Please get the male neutered as soon as you can.

Enjoy the kitten!

Spayed Mother still nursing

I have a female cat that just gave birth to a litter of 5 kittens 11 weeks ago. The 4 females fortunately went to 2 homes. We are keeping the only male kitten also. I had the Mother spayed on Friday yet the kitten still wants to nurse. I know they wanted the mother to have weaned the kittens before she was spayed however she was still nursing a little before the last 2 kittens left at 10 weeks. Is it ok to let my male kitten nurse even though Momma was just spayed 2 days ago? I"m not sure this is good for her recovery but I really don't know. It's very difficult to keep them separated all the time but if that's what I have to do I will. If nursing is no harm then I guess I'll just let her do it until she want to stop. I don't know what to do! HELP Please!!
