Help Please!

My beloved 9 month old "Smookie" is vomiting and is very sick.  When I first opened up the can of Figaro Albacore Tuna Cat Food, it looked like it was a dark red color.  My cats even acted suspicious (they never had it before) but ate a little and then walked away.  I woke up this morning to find red vomit all over my new cream colored carpet and noticed it has a strange plastic like smell.  I had to go run errands all day and when I came home, he was still sick and there was more vomit and now diarrhea.  He is lethargic and I am very worried about him.  Bumble Bee Tuna is the distributor and so I just wrote them a letter letting them know I am considering my options.  Has anyone else ever had this problem?  I have never written on here, but I wanted to warn other pet owners about this.  If you love your cat like I love mine, protect him from this cat food just to be safe!                 -Lori and Smookie

Oh my gosh, red vomit, I'd have run my cats to the vet as fast as I could run if they did that!!!  Did you ever get yours in? What did the vet have to say? That's just tooo scary.   I hope they feel better real soon!

My cat is 12 years old and LOVES Figaro - in fact it is about the only cat food she will eat.  I've always said I'm in big trouble if they stop making it!  It could be you got ahold of a random bad can of cat food, it just didn't agree with your cat, or your poor kitty got sick for other reasons.  But I've never had any problems with it.  And yes, the cat food is a dark red-brown color so it is not pretty on the carpet when mine throw it up along with a hairball.

Have you taken your cat to the vet yet? It could have been a bad can of food. Do you still have the container for testing?

I don't feed any of my cats canned tuna. In fact, they don't even like canned salmon. They will nibble on a bite of cooked fish we have for supper.

Oh my gosh!!

Please give us an update, I sure hope you took your kitty to the vet. I know its $$ but I myself learned a very important lesson with our previous two boys who are no longer with us.

Please let us know how he is

I have never heard of this brand. Please, please take your cat to the vet ASAP.
I do hope we are not in for another round of contaminated pet food recalls.
When your cat gets well, ask your vet to recommend some top quality pet foods.

Natural tuna is supposed to be red. I've never seen whole tunas in the fish market that weren't red....I'm sure you can buy whole whites...just not around here. All brands of cat foods tuna flavors are red so as other posters stated you most likely got a bad can. Did you check the date? Was there a dent or puncture? I'm very wary of wholesalers for this particular reason. They hope that in buying in bulk they could slip some cans/cases of old stuff out the door they weren't able to move before.

Prowlcat1......  Bumblebee has stopped production on Figaro tuna.  My six cats have eaten this for years, and two of the cats won't eat any other canned food.   We are very upset about this.
