Please post and say some nice words to those sweet cats that are purposely killed. I just read on the news that one man fed cats and kittens to his pitt bulls! It said that he would injure the neighborhood cats AND kittens badly, then feed the already injured kitties to his pit bulls! Please say some nice words to these poor kitties!

And he is still at large!! Tell me where he lives, I know some people who would be happy to come with me and show him how it feels!

There was an article in the Wichita (KS) paper about how our Humane Society gets about an animal a week with injuries consistant with being used as bait to train fighting dogs. A man I met recently near Winfield, KS said he won't put ads out for kittens (he rescues) because of a man who showed up from the last ad. The man stated that the baby bunnies he used to buy from the pet shops are getting too costly, so now he picks up free kittens as food for his pet snake!!

I've been thinking about starting a thread asking people for advise on how to deal with my terror of trying to find homes for the kittens I rescue. I'm thinking about a 5 page application with referrences from the persons vet, landlord, neighbors, local police and their parents!!

The more I know people the more I like my animals!!!

It terrifies me the stories I have read about the cruel things people do to cats. We lived with my boyfriend's mother last year and at the time there was a spate of cat poisonings going on. I knew if someone poisoned my Cookie nothing would have stood between me and the person doing it. The police were investigating but nothing came of it. There was also a guy across the road (who everyone suspected of the poisonings) and he keeps pigeons, and he would shoot cats with a BB gun if they got in his garden.

My boyfriends mum's little cat Dylan went missing earlier this year, and they think that man got him.

I just wish there was something we could do to show people that they can't get away with hurting animals the way they do. I'm sure there are enough cat lovers in the world for our united voices to be heard.

God bless those little kitties used as bait and hope that they are no longer suffering xxx

Just a thought...one of our local papers will not allow cat/kittens to be put in the ads for "free".  The person advertising must sell the cat for a minimum $25.00.  They have a little blurb stating that they had been told some animals for being used for "studies" and they will no longer advertise that the animal if free.  I don't know what, if any good it has done, but I guess anything is worth a try.

Cricket -- I suggest that you affiliate yourself with a good cat rescue organization.  You can foster the kittens for them and get them adopted under their auspices, most likely guaranteeing that they will be adopted by good people.

Each life should have nine cats.

I have heard of the people who harm/kill innocent cats/kittens and am just as appalled as everyone else.  I also remember a great history lesson in the fact that the man who originally organized the ASPCA had originally titled it ASPCAC, which means the American Society for the prevention of cruelty to Animals and CHILDREN!  He proved in court anyone who harms an animal, if given the opportunity WILL work their way up to humans.  Jeffrey Dahlmer is a perfect example of that scenario.  That is why I am always so amazed about the low priority animal cruelty cases get in the law enforcement world.  We need to petition our lawmakers to make animal cruelty a higher priority!!!!

People like this are the reason why I often prefer animals to humans.

Sonomajudy makes an excellent point.  If you're cruel to an animal, you will almost certainly abuse humans as well.  Pets are so much easier to care for than children; imagine how folks like this would treat a crying child!

I believe that those who abuse animals should have to stay away from them (including humans).  They should start with plants first...see if they are able to establish a nonabusive relationship with a plant.  If they are successful at this, then they can progress to animals.

Turns out my kitty (that was her name, she was a 6 week old kitten) was poisoned, someone threw a poisoned tuna can on our backyard (confirmed by my brother who is a chemist and by oir vet) (good thing the doggies where locked in somewhere else)

Also TOM, who was raised by one of our dogs got his skull crushed with a baseball bat by one of our neighbors workers at a very young age.

The only kitten who has died of natural causes in our house hold was tommy, she died weeks after giving birth to 3 dead kittens, of heart failure.

I cant stand people this cruel, specially with kitty, I found her when she was 5 weeks old (she died lasgt week), i raised her and loved her very much, not that the other 2 cats werent important, its just that those where from when I was between 5 and 9 years old, now im 20 and it hurts bad
