My cats will try to lay on anything that has my attention including more reading material. In the morning when I read the news paper, at least one cat will jump right on to it and lay down. They also try to climb on any book I am reading or between me and the book or me and the computer screen. I guess that is their subtle way of saying they want attention? lol

Gizmo likes pencils and paper. When I was drawing last week, she sat on my lap paddling at the pencil, and then patted her paw right on the platen of the desk. I told her "Since you are so interested in the drawing, you get to be on the cover of the book." And she is.

Generally she avoids reading material. She only 'helps' when I am at the drawing table, not the computer.

I think they like the motion, and the fact that you are paying attention to something other than 'them' doubtless attracts them. My dog would be far more intrusive on books and papers, literally throwing herself on them. The cat is quieter but just as interested.

They definitely don't like my attention to be on anything but them! lol... Gina will paw my arm or my face if I don't look at her or if I stop petting her for a second.

Double J loves to be on paper. Loves pencils and pens.

He also loves to help you look for his ball or fav. toys under the couch or the microwave cart. He has to be right there in front of you.

Scarlytt always needs to be everywhere my girlfriend and I are. If we are on the computer she'll walk right onto the desk and plop down between me and the keyboard. Usually hitting a few keys along the way, making it impossible to type anything. My attention then immediately goes to her. Hmmm... seems like her plan worked!! LOL. Both Scarlytt and Psyka like pens or any writing material. They will usually bat at it while we are writing. And once we put it down, well, on the floor it goes. It seems like they just want to get it away from us. Psyka is big on following the mouse curser on the screen. She'll just sit and watch it go back and forth.

BTW... Does anyone elses cats like to watch the walls???

if so let me know!

Three of my 5 cats LOVE to lounge on anything I'm reading. Perhaps I'm weird, but I think it's cute & take it as a sign of affection.

Daisy doesn't do it. But if I'm reading the news paper and Murphy comes asking for attention and I ignore him. He will climb right in the middle of my paper and make himself right at home.

Someone always wants to lay on my paperwork when I am working at home. The other night I am trying to review tax returns and everytime I got on to leave another would show up. They also love pens and pencils. Patches loves to help you wash the dishes. Spanky will always stop to watch TV when the animal planet is on. Any of the shows it doesn't matter, he stops whatever he is doing to watch it.
