I am trying to find out which cat breed has non-allerginic benefits for humans.  Does anyone know which breed that is?

I've heard claims of several breeds being hypoallergenic - but the truth is, none truly are.  It depends on the specific person and the specific cat.  Mostly what people are allergic to is the dander the cat produces, not the hair, and all cats produce dander.  But some people find that they can tolerate certain cats better than others.

Agree with Cats Dolls. Plus some persons are allergic to cat's saliva, so hairless cats are not option for them. I had a friend who developed allergy when her male cat turned 7 month old and started to spray, but allergy gone after cat got fixed. The best way to know about allergy- ask dermatologist to have skin tests, to determine the type of allergens. If person is allergic to hair, the opyions are Sphynks, Ukrainian levkoy, Oriental ans Classic Siamese. Again it's better to spend an hour with certain cat and then make a decision.

Siberians are known for being hypo allergenic -- In the March Cat Fancy the siberian breed is profiled and the article explains all about it.  I have a siberian and they are great cats -- lots of fun!

I myself am allergic to cats so I bought a sphynx to see if it would help.  I asked my vet and he told me that it is not the fur it is the dander on the skin that causes most of allergic problems.

You are in luck. For the low price of only $31,000 you can own a truly hypoallergenic cat! Financing available.

Of course it's a scam. I can't believe anyone would go for this, but I guess it only takes a few. I thought you would find this amusing.

The rex breeds are less allergic for people (Selkirks, Cornish, Devon). But if you are highly allergic to cats, none of these would probably be allergy free.
