I have a rescued cat that is 4 1/2 years old. She was boxed trained then I moved into a house and she could go outside.  Things were going great . Lately she has been spraying on my cable box. She has ruined it. Any  advice will be greatly appreciated. I should mention that I also have 2 dogs and 2 outdoor cats.

first off take her to the vet and make sure there's nothing medically wrong, inappropriate elmination is usually one of the first signs that there's something wrong with a cat.  Is she spayed? If not she could be spraying because she's in heat.

Then provided that there's nothing medically wrong, take a look around and see what's new? Or what's been changed. Cats hate change and disruptions in their routine. Is she happy as an inside outside cat? Would she prefer being an inside only cat?

Is there a new cat in the house? A new dog? Sometimes even if a new Significant Other is coming around too much or moved will upset a cat enough to start spraying

My cats own my house they just permit me to live there.

My cat will only normally hiss at something he really hates... Has never urinated on anything that I know of... Sounds like she needs a check up at the vet, or you need to hide your cable box (with a cardboard box or blanket)... I am reading that cats tend to like cardboard boxes!

Cats, like people, can be very resistant to change.  I've relocated four different cats and had to go through a re-orientation process for each new location.  This included placement of their litter boxes, their food dishes and their sleeping arrangments.  Lots of extra love was included until they became accustomed to the new home and established it as "their kingdom."

As Pealockigabe said, she may not like being an outside/inside cat.  Not all cats like being in the wild, and some of them are actually scared of the outdoors. (Yeah, they'll sit at the door and jump out the first chance they get, but once they're out there, they realize that this isn't what they thought it would be, and you'd better be there to let them back in!)
