Sounds like my Marshmallow.  She loves to be near you and snuggle but doesn't like to be held much -- only likes to be held when she's afraid.  Also meows for attention.

I had a minor operation last week and spent the weekend at my parent's house to convalsce, I decided to take Gabe with me. He was a perfect companion, and cuddled in close and had to be touching me all weekend.

It took him a day to readjust to being back home, but he's back to normal, and hell on paws

My cats own my house they just permit me to live there.

Only cat lovers know the luxury of fur-coated, musical hot water bottles that never go cold."

PeaLokiGabe:  Speedy recovery to you!  Hope everything turns out alright!  I know when anyone is sick at our house, the cats seem to take turns "nursing" us and keeping a watch.  There is always one right next to you -- right there if you need a cat to pet and a couple of purrs to relax you!

I've had one of those kinds of cats for 3 years now.  She will not sit on my lap and she panics if you pick her up.  However, she loves to be petted and she will sit right next to me, but never on my lap.  It's just being a cat!
