I had a baby kitten that died just a few hours ago.

She was tramping around behind me as she usually does. Then she started pooping. Not in her litterbox though. Just on the floor and it was bloody. I got really worried and gave her a quick wash so I could take her to the vet, But after the bath she was happy and normal again. She started tramping around for a few minutes and then ran up to the bed and started meowing. Thats what she does when she wants to go to sleep.
So we both went to bed. I woke up to find her dead laying with me. Still trying to keep me warm. I cried for a good long time, I miss my kitten more than anything in the world right now.
Her name was Ewok because her face looked like an Ewok from star wars.
I just wish I could go back and take her to the vet. I would do anything to get my kitty back.

I only had her for about 4 days, But I had been playing with her for about a month at my girlfriends house. She was such a loving kitten. She loved sitting on my lap while I surfed the web and watched movies. I wish if nothing else I could have been there to comfort her as she passed.

Oh my! I am so sorry for your loss. That must have been terrible to wake up with her in your arms! I can't imagine how that must feel!

I do know that losing a precious pet is absolute torture. It tears at your heartstrings and doesn't want to let go. I know you must be feeling guilty right now- "If I had taken her to the vet, this never would have happend". But don't beat yourself up. If she passed on to Heaven within a few hours after the first incident, there may have been little a vet could do. Have comfort in knowing that she passed away in the arms of the people who loved her- not some cold strange vet office.

Ewok will always be with you, I know that. I can tell from your description that she loved you so much, and you loved her. It was one of those special friendships that you will never forget. And as long as you keep her memory alive- remembering all the wonderful and silly little things she used to do- she will never really be gone; she will be alive in you!

We are here for you if ever you need us! Keep your chin up- up to the Heavens, where Ewok is watching over you now. I promise you, the pain may never go away, but it will get better over time!

Thank you So much for your kind words vettechgirl. it was such a horrible feeling to know she wasn't able to hear my voice or anything before she passed. That's what tears at me the most.

But you were there!  You said she was laying next to you - well, even though you were asleep, she knew you loved her and you were there.  She could feel your body warmth comforting her and she knew you would keep her safe - and you did.  You took her right to the Rainbow Bridge where she's now happy and healthy while she waits for you.

Her life may have been short but it was filled with love.  That is the best life she could have had!

I had a kitten like that his name was george and he was all black and I always wanted a black kitten. Than one day me and my now husband went to the movies. My mother came and picked me and him up, she told me George had passed he was really sick she said. All I could do was cry and say it was my fault, because I bought him home.

I know how you feel and you shouldn't blame yourself you should remember the good times you two had and how much she loved you and cared for you. She will always be with you no matter where you go or what your doing. I hope you feel better and find a new furry friend. Keep positive.

When they go that fast with little or no warning, there was probably nothing the vet could have done anyways.  The time it would have taken to conduct tests, etc. kitty would have died in a strange vet's office.

I got a kitten, Raven, from the Humane Society.  She was so smart and had personality plus.  She loved to be dressed (never had a cat that liked to wear clothes before) -- she was very young and I only had her for 2 months and one day she just dropped over dead!   No warning, no signs, no nothing!  The vet said she probably had a heart defect and just died INSTANTLY.  I still miss her so much even though she was with us for such a short time.

Just feel happy that for the short time your kitty was on this earth, he was very much loved and happy!

I feel so sorry for you!! I had a lump in my throat just reading and started to tear up.

You were with her - She wanted to sleep and you went to bed with her. She went peacefully, the way she wanted and the way we all hope that our little loved ones can pass on. She had you there with her and she felt comfortable enough to drift off with you by her side. Happy and loved!

As everyone has already said - it is NOT your fault and there really would have been nothing the vet could have done in this time so try to be happy for the memories you do have and the good time you were able to give her while she was here with you.

Oh I am so sorry for you. I know how this hurts. I agree with the previous posts. There is no way, after her seeming recovery, to have known that her illness would return. I feel you exercised the best judgement you could at the time. Please don't add insult to your already considerable injury of losing your sweet kitty.

I think she was too far gone with her illness to have been saved by the vet. She was in the most comforting place in the world to her: her mommies arms.

Please read that Rainbow Bridge poem. It was a great comfort to me the last 2 weeks when my baby went missing & I thought her dead.

So so sorry for you. I feel your pain. Just wish I could make it better for you somehow.

I'm sure she died peacefully in ehr sleep though. She was lucky to have a loving friend like you who cared for her.
