Cozy Kittens is where I would go to get a Persian. The breeder seems very responsible, caring and concerned for her cats. I can understand how it is when you are rehoming your precious fur babies! She really seems to care about where they go. I'm planning to purchase a couple kittens from her someday. My current group of kitties are all farm/barn cats, but don't know it! LOL My Persians would be indoors and have a personal garden like those picts on Cozy Kittens website.

She may be the nicest person in the world, but if she is not breeding to the written standard, then she would be considered a backyard breeder who is only breeding to make money. She doesn't show her cats because they would not win in the rings.

Reputable breeders show and breed to the standard. I know other breeders that I would consider backyard breeders (not persian but another breed) and on top of that, they are mixing 2 breeds together but claiming they are one or the other. I know the standard of both breeds and its obvious they are mixing the breeds together!

I can't stop you guys from buying a cat of your choosing, but can point out what is good or bad. Its your choice if you want to support a backyard breeder.

I have posted this information before, the doll faced is actually more true to the original breed than the nowaday standard.  I think it is just terrible what has been done to this breed.  I've read more and more that the breed is also becoming less intelligent - to downright 'stupid'.  A friend has a purebred persian with the belly button nose and she said the cat is more like a stuffed animal - very mellow with no real personality at all.

Below is a Persian Champion from 1933:

Now a picture of today's Persian - this is a photo from the Cat Fancier's Show:

Their noses have almost become BELLY BUTTONS!  They have breathing problems, nose tumors, etc.

What are we doing to these breeds?
