i've tried that, i have never even heard anything close to a purr from her, and i've had her for about a year :-/ and she also has a funny meow, so hopefully it's because she has a... differently developed vocal system? and not because she's unhappy

Just because a cat is purring doesn't meant that they are happy, so a non-purring cat doesn't mean that they're unhappy. I would say that she just may not purr. Next time you see your vet, mention it to him, and see what he has to say. There could be any number of reasons why she won't purr, so see what the vet says.

Hey Ladies,

I volunteer at an organization called Project Halo. We are a nonprofit group and are trying to raise funds for our new shelter being built. We are doing a calendar to raise money for our shelter. If you are interested you can buy a page and have your pets picture and favorite quote put in the calendar. Plus if you do this you get a calendar as well. All proceeds go to helping our animals. One neat fact is my group rescued 250 Hurricane Katrina animals and brought them to NC and had them adopoted out. The wbsite is http://www.projecthalo.net/ind...ontent&task=view&id=16 All the info is there and an example of what it will look like.

Thanks All

Jana

Jana,

I am glad your group rescued 250 animals Hurricane Katrina and brought them to NC and adopted them out. It was really terrible when Katrina hit. We live outside of the New Orleans area and it was really bad. We evacuated from Katrina in another area in Lousiana bringing our cat Chester with us.

Don't worry about your cat not purring. Tinsel hardly ever purrs. But I don't think it's because she's not happy. I think that's just her personality. She's very playful and active. Not very lovey or snuggly at all. I love and hate that about her, but I would never trade her in for another kitty Is your cat's (Pepper is her name, right?) personality anything like Tinsel's?

Tinsel,

I think every cat has it's own personality. I do believe most any cat is going to purr at some time.

I do hope Pepper purrs one day. But most of the time i can tell she's really enjoying a scratch. She does make this weird pigeon kinda sound when I play with her, or when I come home. It's quick and short, nothing like purring. Pepper is snuggly only sometimes when she's tired. She doesn't really like being constricted though, anything like holding her too tight (in her opinion ofcourse, if she doesn't have space to walk away she would cry) will make her struggle to get free. She is incredibly playful and active. Tinsel sounds quite like Pepper :-D Is that Tinsel in the picture? She looks awfully cute

Yes it is, and thank you. I think Pepper is really cute too. Sounds like Tinsel and Pepper do have the same type of personality. Tinsel likes to have her chin scratched too.
