My 15 year old cat, Booty, died on Monday. She was ran over right in front of our driveway. We let her out at 8am and she was ran over by 10am, when we found her. It was so horrible, because she ALWAYS laid out in the road. There were times when vehicles would stop and we'd have to pick her up out of the road. She was very heavily overweight and on top of being old, she had trouble getting up fast enough. But the most horrible thing about it was that the person that ran her over NEVER stopped to let us know. What a**holes. It makes me cry everytime I look at her photos. I was hoping to see her when I got back from my trip to Kentucky, but now I never will. She had superior intelligence, loved only the freshest water, was the matriarch of all the cats, and was so lovable it was amazing. :'( Rest in peace Booty, we love you so much.

I am so terribly awfully sorry!  I know you loved her and I'm so sorry you didn't get back from Kentucky before this happened.

She had a great life - she had you!  Try to take comfort in knowing that you took good care of her and she knew she was loved.

I'm sorry.

I am so sorry. Booty had a great life while in your hands no doubt about that. It is really sad that you are away right now and lots of people are jerks you can't change that. Just remember that you gave Booty the best live she could have.

I'm really sorry. Just think that she had a great life living with you and most people are careless. We're here for you.

Oddly enough, I also lost a 15 yr. old cat the other day. I had to put "Lady Cat" down due to kidney failure.

Mind you, I had only been caring for "Cat" since last summer. She tended to stay at the head of my bed, rarely venturing into the rest of the house.

Yet, even today .... whan I got home from work, I greeted the other cats - then went into the bedroom to greet her. Oops.

My little tomcat was the first to noticer her missing; he's still a bit confused.

I live in a VERY small place. With four cats, plus the odd feral staying in, you wouldn't think I'd miss the quietest one. Yet, the house seems so empty ....

That's what 'grief' is all about.

Reno, I'm sorry to hear about Lady Cat too.  I know how much you care for all your kitties, so no, I'm not surprised that you missed the quietest cat.

Her last year with you was as good a life as a cat can have.  Now she's part of StarClan, watching over you.

Thank you all for your kind words. It is very hard and tomorrow when I head back home, I know that I will experience more grief all over again and will most likely go to greet her too. It makes me cry just trying to write this and I'm such a sensitive person that it makes it 5 times harder to cope. I wish I could have seen her one last time. I truly hope that she endured no suffering and that the passing was instant. She didn't deserve it. She was the ultimate, most unique, and loving cat I've ever known.

Beautiful kitty, thanks for posting the pictures.

and please remember that

they are gone from our sight... but never our memory,

gone from our hearing... but never our hearts,

gone from our touch... but their presence is felt,

and the love that they gave us never departs.

Please ignore the emoticon in my previous post.

I'm new to this and it was a mistake.
