Since I don't have a car, live by myself and am getting older, it's getting more difficult for me to get out to purchase cat litter and bring it home...obviously, it's clearly much heavier than regular groceries (I have one wonderful 13 yr old kitty, a female tuxedo cat). I'm currently looking into getting a “Littermaid” box, since I've read many positive reviews of it. I understand it can save on the amount of litter needed and make the entire process of keeping the litter box clean (and disposing of used litter) much easier. I am puzzled by the apparent wide disparity of opinions regarding it however. Many seem to love it and just as many seem to hate it.
I am even looking into the Cat Genie “self-washing, self-flushing” litter box which, although expensive, pretty much eliminates the need for regular litter.
Until one of those happens however (and if it happens), I would like to find a source for purchasing litter online and have it delivered to my home for a reasonable price. I have found it difficult to find litter online however. Many online pet supply merchants don't seem to carry it, apparently since it's weight makes it so expensive to ship.
I am wondering if anyone else here has dealt with this issue and found a good source for having litter delivered to their home. The best I have found so far appears to be PETCO, which currently has a 27 lb box of “Tidy Cats” litter for $16.99 (currently on sale for $11.99) plus $7.99 for shipping. That appears to me to be about the best I can expect to do.
I live in the USA by the way so would be looking for sources for that area. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

| http://www.petfooddirect.com I found this website and for an example I placed an order for 30lbs of a name brand litter and my shipping zip code and the total was like $36.00 Give it a look. By the way, I have owned a total of three different Littermaid products and to tell you the truth after it was all said and done. Scooping is less of a hassel.

You may want to try at a cat show in your area- I live in Pittsburgh PA and at our local CFA show in March there was a vendor who delivered the cat litter to your door, like a diaper service. They can't be the only small company around with that idea, so it would be worth looking into!
