I use a scoopable right now but I am looking into a Hybrid brand called Fresh Aire it is made of wood+2 types of clay & some organic material.

Like the rest it claims to have solved the litter box equasion.

20 lbs for $12.99

I use World's Best, it's made from corn. You didn't have a grain choice so I put it in hybrid!

We use crystal litter - which i love since it absorbs urine (and the cat pee smell! yay!) We got turned onto it when we started using our scoopfree box (scoopfree.com) which is an automatic box. Between the litter that absorbs urine and the box that scoops the poop automatically, i think we're pretty well set up in the litter box department.

Sorry about that Cricket, I thought I got them all.  Good Save.

Here is my experience with litter;

Feline Pine, I agree with Cats_Dolls it gets mushy and the pine smell is big

Clay, Heavy and you have to toss a lot of lbs. to clean

Yesterdays News, a paper type litter that had the same result of feline pine but no odor control

Tidy Cats works about 90% of the time, sometimes it's like you get a bad batch and nothing clumps

There was the silica pearl type litter that was ok for poopers but it was hard to get all of the urine pieces out and if any came out of the box #1 they hurt to step on and it seemed unsanitary

That's why I'm interested in this newer litter.  I'm gonna try it and share with you the results.

KittyKrys (8/7/2009)
So I switched to Fresh Step multi-cat - the scoopable kind. And so far this has worked well, but I really hate the dust that comes with it.

I really like Fresh Step except for the dust too. I would say that is the only problem with it.

Hey there-

yeah, the crystal stuff doesnt really create much dust, but then again our cats arent really having to dig around that much to get to the clean litter since the scoopfree keeps the box pretty clean. I cant say for sure what the crystal litter is like in a regular box and if your cat would end up digging around more than ours do. For the most part, the dust thing isnt much of an issue.

I can see why you might find stepping on crystals outside of the box unsanitary, but if you get a tracking pad it does pretty good to eliminate that issue as well.

All in all, its a good fit for us. I am sitting in the same room as the box right now and I cant even smell it. Gotta love that.

I found that the crystal stuff didn't always absorb the pee, so there'd be pee in the bottom of the box.  Ugh!  And even a litter mat didn't control the tracking.  I was constantly sweeping and vacuuming, even vacuuming the bathroom floor, and still finding litter beads around.

Great concept, but lacked something in the execution.  WBCL is still the best in my book.

Ok, so today I bought our first 10lb container of FreshAire ($7.99) litter today.   It's an odd ratio but the container says 10 lbs = 14 lbs of regular clumping  and it looks like saw dust with a little bit of tiny granuals in it.

I placed a thin layer on top of the litter to start the intro for the cats.

Our research beings!

WorldsBest kitty litter here also... I just clicked scoopable as you didnt have grain. We used Natures Miracle also, until my Mom decided she didnt like the new smell when they changed formulas. I have not used clay for years due to the dust. I read some articles, in CF and other sources that it could possibly cause health issues, and as they are in the covered box digging around, that raises more dust by their sensitive noses so we went the alternative route.

Worlds Best seems to control smell pretty well unless Missy doesnt cover her #2
