On the morning of July 24th I awoke to the loud cries of my beloved cat "Boo".  I went outside to see what was going on.  I looked everywhere and finally followed the sound to my neighbor's garage.   This is a very long story and it hurts me to tell it, but to make it short, my neighbor....my so called friend.....trapped and killed my cat.  He told me he hadn't saw the cat, but he told the police he let it out of the garage.....after alot of my own investigating, I found out he is known in our town for telling people he hates cats and wants them dead....why didn't anyone tell me.  There is more to the story, but the facts and the pieces of a puzzle are finally coming together.  4 other cats in the neighbor are missing and feared dead also. The police were no help at all.  The police chief's response was "Well, I hate cats too".  My husband and I are devastated.  Our "Boo" who did nothing wrong, he was murdered and know one seems to care.  The police did nothing.  We found a lawyer to sue him, but the cost is out of our budget.  We immediately put our house on the market - I can't live next to satan.  He is creepy.  My heart aches....I heard his last cries....I will never be the same.....I am destroyed.....I lost my baby.....I can't stop crying, I can't eat, I am scared......I did start counseling, but the tears just won't end. I am so mad.  I am so mad that society accepts this kind of behavior.  If a child did this, he would be "marked" as a possible serial killer, but an adult to do it is acceptable by the people who are suppose to "Serve and Protect".  Please hug your kitty and be very careful of people who pretend to be your "neighbor"......If anyone has any advice on how to find help with legal fees, we would sure appreciate it.  This isn't right and he needs to know it.  He needs to answer for his actions.  I will take any suggestions any of you have.    Thank you for your time.

I am so sorry for your loss of Boo.

The ASPCA website, there is a tab  on the top left to report animal cruelty, maybe this will help with the neighbor.

We is friends now, whether you want it or not!

Thank you.  Please pray for us.  In my 46 years of life, I have never had such a feeling of hatred and sadness....it is overwhelming.

I appreciate your kind words.

I am so terribly sorry.  For those of us who love cats, there is no greater hell than to know that a beloved cat died by deliberately-inflicted pain and cruelty.  I hurt for you and wish I could make it better.

First of all - talking about it does seem to help work through the grief.  You're doing fine there.  Try to let go of the hate you feel.  It will only drag you down.  At least try to hate the action and not the person.

Second - can you prove what you say?  If you can, then take action.  As someone else suggested, start with the ASPCA.  Then - you got the police chief's name, right?  So go to his boss and complain.  And don't stop there.  Talk to your local TV station. And the newspapers. Let them know what happened and also about the callous response you got from the police chief.  But again, be sure you can prove what you say so you don't get sued for libel.

Come back and talk to us all you want.  Let the love you shared with Boo wrap around you and comfort you.  Most of us here have lost a beloved cat before, so we know.

As much as I hate PETA, your neighbor deserves to have them in his face! Contact every org you can think of, and absolutely notify the press! I know there was a town that had a cat killer, and it got big news, the police stepped up in that one!!!

You don't have to be crazy to be my friend,   but it helps!!!

What!!??? This is awful news. Please, don't sell the house yet. One thing I have learned about the police is that they sometimes make mistakes. Even break the law out of ignorance of same. Did you get the cops name? Can you try & go above his/her head to a commanding officer. I hate to say, but the ones sent on housecalls are often the flunkies/rookies & are sometimes in error of judgement.

Oh I am so so sorry for your loss.  I lost my own baby, but cannot imagine the pain of hearing her death howls. If you can prove this, you have a lawsuit on your hands. But that does not heal the pain, I know. And I know that when hurting so it is terrible to have to deal with these bureaucrats & serial killers.

CRICKET: I know what you mean about Peta. Like some political figures, they only come out when the PR is beneficial to them! This sounds like one of those cases.

Same here, Same here. I'm NOT a fan of PETA. But yes, that man does diserve for them to be up in his face. I'm going to be honest- I cried all of last night thinking about it. I wonder what this guy would feel like if he was locked up in a jail cell....  Horryfying. Where do you live??

Oh, I'm so so sorry. Poor little Boo. What a horrible thing to happen to you and your darling boy. Boo will be free now in Rainbow Bridge with all our other loved pets.
I hope there is something you can do about that horrible person.
My thoughts are with you.
