We own a Male Breeding Himalayan cat who is very temperamental. He will urinate outside of his box, he will not cover up his feces, whenever he gets mad he goes to the bathroom on the person putting him away, and he will wipe his paws on the walls instead of the rugs we gave him (his dirty paws). However, while on vacation, he and five other cats and dogs were at the kennel and the owner said he acted like the perfect gentleman! Have any ideas?

Some cats don't cover their feces.  Don't know how to "teach" them to do so!

As for the inappropriate urination - is this an only cat?  Has he always done this?  How old is he now?

Un-neutered toms do develop a habit of spraying urine onto vertical surfaces, and their urine does have a particularly pungent odor.  Is this what your kitty is doing?

I have to ask you - are you planning to breed this cat?  If so, are you working with an established breeder who can teach you about breeding?  Many people do not realize how much is involved in cat breeding - it's more than just putting a male and a female together.  Also, most breeders will not sell a cat with breeding rights to someone who isn't an established breeder or isn't working with them to become a breeder.

All that to say to you that, if you aren't working with a breeder or are not planning to breed this cat, you may want to consider neutering him.  That may solve some of the problem you're having.

Seems like normal behavior for an indoor tomcat. He probably behaved better at the kennel because it's not his territory. If you want to breed cats and keep intact toms, you have to take the bad with the good.

We already breed him. We are a full blown cattery, with kittens right now. He does not spray, but just urinates outside of his litterbox. He wipes his paws on the wall( It doesn't sound so bad but it takes a while to clean up). He's a good cat other than that.
