thanks for your advice   I took my baby to the vet yesterday...told him of all the strangeness....(of course he threw-up and pooped all over the car so at least that part works!!)  the vet gave him a good going over only to report that there seems to be nothing physical showing up...he then took some blood for a full review..I'll get that report tomorrow.   this morning after breakfast he went back to bed...(I'm hoping he just wants a rest and not getting worse)   The vet said maybe to put him on a tranquilizer so he can have some peace and not be afraid to move. have you ever experienced kitty prozac?   Nickie

My older cat, Natasha,(14)had been acting strange when we came back from vacation. Alex, the younger cat ( 6) seemed to be sitting in all her favorite places. She would run from me and was off her food a bit. I spent 900 on x-rays, blood tests, and imaging only to find that she was fine physically. We put her and Alex on Prozac about two months ago. It takes between two weeks to four weeks to see any changes. She is a bit more friendly but she is not happy with Alex.
At least, she is eating better and will allow me to pet her. She was always an affectionate cat. I think that her age is getting to her and she just wants some quietness away from Alex. The Prozac is a tablet form and chicken flavored. I did use pill pockets and the Prozac is soft to touch. Natasha is a clever cat and would eat around the Prozac. I now place it inside her mouth in the morning. She gets 1/3 a tablet and Alex gets 1/2 once a day. You can't miss because going off cold turkey is a no non....I will keep them on for a couple more months. Alex is still a friendly cat and doesn't hide. Let me know if you want any more info.
You will have to do blood tests to make sure that your cat is fine for the Prozac. - Bamcat

my cat is acting strange...part three

the blood test came back the other day glucose upper range high  (310)

liver enzymes a little high...Vet said glucose might have been so high because of the stress if he had diabetes it would be higher. so our course of action is to watch his drinking....and to see if his strange acting gets any better...he does seem to be acting a little better at least he is playing and licking his six month old friend again....still seems afraid of things but not everything!!!  Thanks for your input

Might want a second opinion - according to what I read on Wikipedia, 310 is quite high for a cat as well as for a human.  Cats apparently tolerate high sugar levels better than we humans but are still subject to complications.

Come back & keep us posted please!

my cat is acting strange....part three

my sweetie pie seems to be just about back to normal  he's going outside...playing...and grooming his best friend ....He doesn't seem to be drinking alot of water so I'm going to assume the high glucose level was from stress....when I take him back to the vet for his yearly check-up I'll have the vet check his blood....thanks for your love....

Sounds like your kitty needs to see a vet.  She's telling you that something just isn't quite right!

I agree with cat dolls.

If your cat is not spayed, my best guess is that she's in heat.
