Hi everyone! I was wondering at what age (how many months) should a kitten be pretty much full grown? My 9 month old female indoor cat is still quite small and I am not sure if she is pretty much done growing now or not. She is also quite a mean cat, she can be overly affectionate (only first thing in the morning) but she usually bites and scratches if I try to hold her or pet her, yet she always follows my daughter and i around the house and is up for playing. I'm just a bit confused about her behavior. Any tips?
edit>> and she has been spayed.

| Hi Ladyhawk, I don't think your cat is mean, I think she just doesn't like to be held. My Snickers doesn't like to be held either, not all cats do. As far as biting/scratching when you pet her, she probably becomes overstimulated with very little petting and the only way she knows how to deal with it is by biting or scratching. When you pet her pay attention to the cues she's sending you. If she starts twitching her tail and flattening her ears that means she's probably had enough. A few years ago I had a male cat that had almost no "pet tolerance." I could pet him two, maybe three times but any more than that and I would end up prying his teeth out of my hand. I hope this helps, good luck with your kitty!

Einstein used to be the same way, but with patience he turned around.
Now he is the most lovable, cuddliest cat around.

| My Marshmallow didn't like to be held much when she was younger either -- and yes, she bit a lot too. Now at 3 1/2 she is a snugglebug who loves being held. Just be patient, she'll come around.

take each day one at the time, hold him a little, then when he wants to go, let him, as long as the affection is a positive one, he will come to you more and more.
