My cat isn't using his litterbox all the time.  Sometimes he does, but sometimes he doesn't. The litterbox is in the basement and if he were going somewhere else in the house I'd assume he just didn't like the basement, but he is going into the basement to pee on a rug in a different area.

This has been going on for a while, I brought him to the vet to make sure it wasn't a health issue.  The vet gave him a clean bill of health.  I've tried the Natures Miracle and it's not working.  I don't know what to do with him!  He is an indoor/outdoor cat.  I used to wonder if he was doing out of spite b/c I won't wake up at 5am to let him outside if he tries to wake me up.  Any tips on what to do and what a good way to clean up the spot would be great.  Maybe I'm not cleaning it well enough so he keeps repeating???   Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

I would try to put a second litterbox upstairs somewhere.
If that does not help, I am sorry, I have no other tips for you, we do not have these problems.

Dogs think their human, Cats know they are .

I do have 2 litterboxes but they are side by side.  He doesn't pee upstairs. He goes downstairs and instead of turning right to head to the litterbox, he turns left to go to the rug in front of the sink...but like I said, only sometimes.
