So as you can imagine from my last posting Im better now, tough a little sad, specially since it turns out kitty was poisoned, you see we found a can of tuna in our backyard, which smelled and looked awful, my brother who is a chemist tested the contents and they had some weird sounding (cant remember the name) poison on it (im glad we kept our dogs locked in the other yard, as they could have been poisoned aswell).

This was confirmed by our vet, who said (and by the way apologized, since he had to leave town in an emergency the night kitty died) upon description of the symptoms that she indeed died of poisoning.

I still feel bad that there are people capable of such monstrocities, and even more sad that I did not had the chance to bury kitty. Tough thats all in the past and while Ill never forget about her, something in the paper today caught my attention.

Theres someone just 1 block away from our place that is giving 3 kittens in adoption, who happen to be kittys age, breed and even color, due to the circumstances I think kitty may have belonged to that litter (upon speaking with the owner of those kitties she said the mom was runover by a car and one of the kitties lost about the same day I found "kitty").

She is giving them out due to the fact that she is moving and she cant take them, I now its too soon, should I adopt them? she promises they are deparasited and vaccinated (they are 7 weeks old). tough it doesnt seem allright as i can only take 2 (as you remember i have also 2 doggies) im not completely sure about the 3rd one, tough i know a friend who also wants a cat. Advice?

Thanks

Listen to your heart.  You, and only you, will know if you are ready to take on another kitty.  If you are ready and you do adopt one or more of these, I believe it will help you to heal.  But you won't do yourself or the kitten(s) any favors if you aren't ready.

So how do you know?  Go see them.  Pick them up, play with them, see how you feel.  Is there a connection?  Or no?

Assuming that you do want to take one or two of these - will you be able to keep them indoors only, or leash-train them to allow them to be outdoors under supervision?  Knowing that someone in your neighborhood put poisoned tuna out means that you will need to be extra-careful about protecting new cats that you bring into your home.  How awful that you had to know what happened to your first kitty - and yet how good that you now know to be able to protect your new kitten(s).  (Yes, I'm expecting that your heart is telling you to take them!)

I'm glad you did come back to visit, and I'm looking forward to hearing what you decided to do about the kittens.

I agree with everything CatsDolls has said. We're here for you whenever you need to talk. Many of us understand what it is like to lose a beloved kitty; some of us even to tragic circumstances similar to yours.

Please keep coming back! We would LOVE to hear if you did adopt a kitten (when you're ready) and we'll be here to support you whenever you need it.

When my kitty, leo, passed away, I was a complete mess (CatsDolls and Reno can confirm that!). They helped me ALOT. This place is great for support. It's great to be around people who are as cat crazy as you and understand where you're coming from! That's difficult to find (at least where I'm from!)!

Healing thoughts, prayers, blessings and whisker kisses your way!

Thanks for all, tough unfortunately adopting kittys family is no longer a possibility, someone offered the owner money for all 3 , so she just decided to forget I was coming for them tomorrow.

Heres to hoping they do get good families, well that pretty much closes the deal for me, here in Mexico dogs are way more popular than cats, so they are hard to find (not too mention way too expensive), also here we dont have the whole shelter culture, most animals are sacrificed, so im just gonna have to wait.

Alas, I still want a kitten or two, I want a breed that is playfull just as kitty was, and also want them to be babies so I can raise them, I just love the idea of seeing them grow, tough not too young either so that they have a chance of survival. Is 6 weeks okay? im hearing someone is selling cheap kittens but are 6 weeks only

6 weeks is too young.  Their mothers are just beginning to wean them at that age, and they need more time with her, not only to learn to eat solid food, but to learn how to be a good cat - mom & siblings teach them socialization, manners if you will.

Better to keep them with mom until they're about 12 weeks old.

I had not realized that you are in Mexico.  I've visited Mexico and I know what you are saying, the attitudes towards cats are different than here in the States.  It may be difficult for you to find the kitten you want, but don't give up!
