So, four days ago I came home from work and found this little baby meowing her poor little heart out in the backyard! My mom told me to wait until the mother came back, but then our neighbor told us he picked the kitty up. I've seen the mama around and she never let me get near her. (Feral.) So I realized that mama would abandon the baby cause she smelled like humans, and quickly took her inside to get her some food!

She is a girl, so I named her Roxie. I've been feeding her KMR from the bottle and she does sleep in my bed at night. She is quickly becoming a very spoiled little kitten!

I'm guessing she's around 4 weeks old, since she sort of waddles when she walks and I figured she's just learning how to walk. I figured this is actually a good thing, because since her mom was feral she was taken away at the right time to become nicely tamed. (? I think)

I'm going to give this little sweetheart a good home.

Question: when should I stop feeding her from the bottle?

And will my other cat (10 yr old male) kill her? Roxie stays in my bedroom and our resident cat is not allowed in...I'm scared to introduce them!

Can you return the kitten to its mama?  It's a myth that they'll abandon their kittens if a human handles them - it's not really true.  And she's cute as she can be but she's too young to be away from mama yet...

I gave her a piece of solid kitten food and she sniffed it, then licked it all over, but then she spit it out.

We've been introducing her to our other cat Shay. First time they were introduced he hissed at her then ran away, but then every meeting after that he just sniffed her and acted unconcerned. But this morning she went up to him and wanted to cuddle and they were sitting together for awhile before he slowly inched away.

Congrats - they're beginning to become friends!  What you described sounds perfectly normal.

So what are you going to name your new little sweetie?

Her name is Roxie.

I just got her last week, and when I found her she could barely walk. Now she's scampering about and exploring all over! She's also very hungry all the time! She's growing up before my eyes...I'm sure she's so much bigger already!

Everyone loves her except for our other cat Shay. He used to be such a lovebug, but now he growls whenever I come near him. He used to LOVE getting picked up, and he would purr his heart out and practically jump in my arms but now he hisses at me when I try and pick him up!

I also just found a flea on Roxie... so when I take her to the vet this week I'll see about getting rid of them!

I remember raising my cat Sadie (the grey on in my signature), she was only a day old and had been abandoned my her mom too. It is so exciting to watch them grow up!

Shay is just adjusting to Roxie, give her a week or two (or three) and she will start to except Roxie and let you pet her and pick her up again.

Aww, Sadie is so cute! How old is she now?

Well I took Roxie to the vet this morning and got rid of her worms but they said they cant get rid of the fleas until she's older.

Also I decided to let her try some of Shay's solid food but Shay did NOT like that and he started growling at her! He was SO mad!!

She still won't drink milk out of the bowl but when I gave her wet chicken/beef she ate it, but she was very messy.

Now she uses the litterbox all by herself...I'm so proud of her!!
