I'm new here. First post. I needed a place to go where I could write about the grief of losing my soul mate and devoted companion, Mickey. He got very sick, I nursed him back to health and he rallied beautifully. Suddenly, he got very sick again with a septic infection and died a few days later. My heart is broken.
I see all kinds of other people who are grieving as well. My heart goes out to all of you.
They have captured my heart for life!

| I'm so sorry! Yes, you're right, you'll find plenty of people here who understand the pain you're feeling. We'll help you get through this. When you are ready, come back & tell us all about Mickey - we'd love to hear your stories, and sharing them may help you heal. Wishing you God's peace to comfort you.

cats dolls, thanks so much.
Mickey was a "tuxedo" and I will post his picture when I am able. He was with me through divorce, home changes and temporary stays and never wavered. He loved everyone he came in contact with and tolerated my every mood. There were times when he would bat my arms or legs looking for attention and I would snap at him to "STOP!!", yet he never judged me. He always needed to be with me, in the same room, on the couch, on the bed. He truly was my soul mate, companion and faithful pal. I do miss him so much. I had to go through his loss all by myself and I don't think I have even processed it, yet. He's been gone about 5 weeks and I still "see" him everywhere in the house.
They have captured my heart for life!

| You will always carry him with you in your heart. I would love to "see" some of my previous kitties around, and sometimes I do dream about them. Phyllis was my cat. Not the one I chose - I wanted her half-sister. But as cats will, they chose their own persons, and half-sister YumYum chose my husband. Phyllis chose me. She & Yummy were both Scottish Folds, Yummy had folded ears and Phyllis was a straight-eared Fold. She was a large patched tabby, with the cutest red stripe right down the middle of her head. Folds are supposed to be quiet cats, but Phyllis never read that book - if she had something to say, she would meow quite loudly. My husband died of a heart attack. For several weeks afterward, I would go to sleep and would wake up at about 2:30, unable to go back to sleep. I finally realized what the problem was - Phyllis was checking on me each night to make sure I was still breathing!

OMG, CD! I can't even imagine what you are going through! My prayers are with you. Isn't it strange how our babies react to whatever life deals us?
My "Boo" has suddenly placed himself as the alpha male, now that Mickey is gone. He has surrounded me with himself.
They have captured my heart for life!

| Boo is looking after his Meowmy - they're so sweet like that! So if he's the new alpha, who all do you have? Phyllis & YumYum have gone on to the Rainbow Bridge, but we (my fiance and I) now have Ginger, the calico, Harley, the Ragdoll, and Kearstie, the Scottish Fold. They take good care of us!

| I tell what, I feel for you so much. My Baby kitty was my constant companion for 18+ years and her passing still makes me break down because I "see" her a lot. My Fiance Scott's older brother took his own life recently and it's amazing to watch the extra care that George & Walter have shown him while he is grieving. Mickey tried so hard to stay with you, sometimes thier little bodies just can't go on. My sincerest condolence to you.

I'm so sorry about your loss. Just reading this makes me teary-eyed. I've had my 2 boys for a little over 2 years now and don't even want to imagine what it would be like without either one of them. They are my children and I love them with all my heart! (Eventhough Dakota is peeing on the furniture .) Thinking of you!

Thank you everyone for all your kind thoughts. It's good go be able to share grief with people who understand. I just heard that one of my neighbors told another neighbor (who told me) that he just 'didn't get' my being so bent out of shape over a cat!
He's right -- they just DON"T get it!
They have captured my heart for life!
