| I DIDN'T CHOOSE BELLA AND SHE DIDN'T CHOOSE ME. SHE BELONGED TO MY BEST FRIEND WHO ALSO SHARED HER LIFE WITH 7 DOGS 4 CATS AND 2 RABBITS. BELLA GOT LOST IN THE CROWD. I BARELY KNEW SHE EXISTED IN ALL THAT CHAOS.THREE YEARS AGO MY BEST FRIEND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A RARE TYPE OF KIDNEY CANCER. AT THE SAME TIME I WAS NURSING A 20 YEAR OLD CAT WHO WAS FIGHTING DIABETES...AND LOSING.BOTH MY TWO-LEGGED AND FOUR-LEGGED FRIENDS DIED WITHIN ONE WEEK OF EACH OTHER. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER I RECEIVED A CALL FROM MY FRIEND'S SON SAYING THAT SHE HAD LEFT SOMETHING FOR ME IN HER WILL. HER MOST LOVED CREATURE IN THE WORLD, BELLA! BELLA IS A SHY BUT VERY AFFECTIONATE LITTLE GIRL(10lb little girl). SHE IS DELIGHTED TO HAVE THIS APARTMENT AND ME ALL TO HERSELF. ALTHOUGH SHE HAS HEALTH ISSUES RIGHT NOW SHE IS STILL DEVOTED TO ME. AND I ADORE HER. WHEN I LOOK AT HER SWEET FACE I JUST KNOW GOD WAS IN A GOOD MOOD WHEN SHE CREATED CATS.

What a bittersweet story and I am so glad you have Bella. Our cats came to us in various ways. Pumpkin was a "free kitten" in 1987. Twix was a rescue who was rehomed because he did not get along with a dog that my coworker had. Oddleif I found trapped in a window well a week after my mom passed away. I think Oddleif was sent to me to help me heal. Oskar was a vet clinic rescue. Owner wanted to put him down due to chronic FUS. She would feed him crappy food, wait til he got blocked, spend money to ublock him and then feed him the same crappy food. He was only 3, so when my husband was a vet tech at that clinic he took Oskar. Freia was a farm cat surrendered to the humane society. We got several weeks after Oddleif died. She also was gray and white. Buddy and Vinny were rescue cats from our local feral cat and humane society. We got them about 1.5 weeks after losing Oskar last year. Cubby was an abandoned mom cat with kittens that our local dog rescue fostered as a resident cat. We were going to do a foster and decided to give her a forever home. We are Cubs fans so when we saw Cubby, we thought this is the cat that will end the drought of no pennants. She did not deliver this year, but maybe this year. She is also a combination of the cats who passed away this year, Pumpkin and Oskar - since she is a brown tabby calico.

------------------------------------------------
Freia born 2001, gray and white
Buddy, born 2004, orange tabby
Cubby, born 2008, brown tabby/tortie
Vinny, born 2008, buff tabby
Oskar, brown tabby, 1995-2008, Pumpkin, calico,1987-2009, Oddleif, gray and white, 1994-2002, Twix, solid gray longhair,1992-2003

| Ebony was rescued by a coworker. He was very young, extremely sick, and half-starved. He just barely missed getting hit by a truck. My coworkers older cats were not amused with the new kitten (nor was the husband.) I saw a picture and just fell in love. Minx was adopted from a no-kill shelter through PetSmart. I was looking for something that ended up being out of stock. So before leaving I just went to peek at the other kitties in the store. She was the only non-kitten that was paying attention. I petted her for a bit and then went to leave. I looked back and her eyes just begged me to not leave me there.

Pixie, Ebony, and Minx - we all know cats rule the roost.

Our Son Maximilian always wanted a cat, my husband not a car person reluctantly gave in.
So we went to our local shelter, and saw Einstein,. who's shelter name was * Stimpy*, poor soul.
so we looked at all the cats, but EInstein stuck out, he tried to open the latch from his kennel, then when my husband opend it, he jumped right out on his chest, he sold himself and we took him home.
Dogs think their human, Cats know they are .

| 1) Ginger was a 6-month-old kitten who was picked up by a no-kill shelter group on her last day at a high-kill shelter. It was a Saturday and the no-kill group headed straight for PetSmart with 10 kittens from the high-kill shelter. We weren't planning to get a cat, certainly not a kitten. We went to buy food for our two senior cats and had to go through the adoption area to get in the store. Ginger took one look, got our attention, and that was pretty much it. We were hers! 2) Fast-forward a few months. One of the two seniors had died, and the remaining senior didn't get on well with Ginger. One cat wanted to play all the time and the other never wanted to play. We didn't know it but the senior had bone cancer. We'd been looking leisurely for a Scottish Fold but realized that Ginger was lonely and needed a playmate - now. So we were looking for a kitten a bit younger than Ginger, one that she could mother and play with. A different shelter group, a different PetSmart - and there he was. Cute little white kitty with big blue eyes, just calmly sitting in the cage as though he was just waiting for us. We realized this kitty met our criteria - male, younger than Ginger - and Harley came home to become Ginger's best-loved toy. She greeted him with great excitement as if she understood that we had brought her a cat of her very own! 3) Almost immediately afterward, Phyllis died of bone cancer. And then we found the Scottish Fold kitten I'd been looking for. Phyllis and her half-sister were Folds and I really love that breed. Kearstie Sugear was my bonus that year - while I could have invested the $$ in the stock market and watched the investment lose its value, I chose to invest it in a kitten who grew up into a cat from whom I receive high interest and daily dividends of love, head-butts, and purrs. I think I made a very wise investment!

| Baby Kitty came about when I went to our local shelter to look for a friends lost cat and she was the only one who came up to the cage and meowed for me to bust her out of cat jail. It was two days before they would euthanize her, I thought about it and went back not knowing it was her last day and I am so happy I went back. George came home with my ex because his best friend's name was George and had died in an accident. I guess he went to the shelter and thought it was a sign. He moved out soon after that and I refused to give George up. Great decision! Walter was finagled away from a homeless guy here in Dallas two or three weeks after the passing of Baby Kitty, I wasn't totally sure I wanted a new cat yet at that point, I thought that I would take him to the shelter but after a day I knew he was staying.
We is friends now, whether you want it or not!

well here goes the full list:
.Tommy (gray female tabby): We found her up in a tree hiding from children who where about my age at that time (I was around 8 years old), after I told them to stop (some of them where and still are my friends, lol), tommy climbed down and went into my arms, she then proceeded to live with us for 2 whole years, she was an outside cat who would just leave for 1 or 2 hours at a time, once she returned home to give birth to 3 dead kittens and 2 kittens she refused to feed (which died within the hour), a week later she died of heart failure.
.Cas (tuxedo male): We found him hit by a car, his face all bleeding, but still alive (tommy was alive when this happened), the vet says he did all he could but that we would have to feed him as he wouldnt be able to eat for himself. So we fed him (well mom did, i was too young to be that responsible, I mean what can you expect from a 9 year old?). Well he got better in 3 months, as we already had tommy we gave him away to the vet, who rehomed him on a matter of days.
.Tomas (gray male tabby): The maid found him on her way back from the store, tomas seemed just born, he had not even opened his eyes yet, we tough he would not make it. Tough mom had an idea, besides lactose free milk and warmth she let doggy (our now 8 year old french poodle) in, she (doggy) licked the kitten and reanimated him, he began drinking form the bottle!!. From that point onwards doggy became the mother for Tomas.
Tomas lived with us 3 years, he was killed by a neighbors temporal worker with a baseball bat.Doggy really missed him, actually any meow like sound made her cry, waiting for tomas to go home.
."nameless": We found this 2 month old black kitten our maid fell in love with, so we gaver her the kitten, who still lives but I dont know his name.
.Kitty (4 week old gray tabby, female): Mom found her and brought her home; many of you already know this tragic history.
.Tiger (5 week old orange tabby): Well he is my newest ktten and has a clean health bill. I adopted him from an owner who could keep that many kittens!!! he is a bundle of joy!!

We had him for about five years but he went missing one day. Coco- my dad bought home a free kitten flyer and he agreed to bring her home. The man who had her said that a feral had had two kittens but couldn't keep them we took the female. Her brother was scared of people but lucky he got neutered. We had Coco and Butterscotch for about 6 months before he went missing. Sadie- she was a frail grey kitten who's mom left her so we had a less than a weeks old kitten. She is still alive a doing well, except she is a little fat. Leo- I was donation so food my my humane society when my dad wanted to go look at the cat, well he fell in love with one so now we have three cats.

"The really great thing about cats is their endless variety. One can pick a cat to fit any kind of decor, color scheme, income, personality, mood. But under the fur, whatever color it may be, there still lies, essentially unchanged, one of the world's free souls." Eric Gurnery

We came by our 2 new kitties when we had our beloved Lucky put to sleep Nov9th. She was a stray we took in with an inner ear infection that spread to her brain. We took a walk through the kitty room and fell in love with Zephyr and the fuzzy little Phaedra. They came home with us. They helped with the grief we felt for Lucky. We're very happy with them.

| Oh, where to begin .... The GF had encouraged me to get a cat, so I put the word out ... and a few months later I was told of a cat that had a litter ready for adoption. That's how I got Motzie, my first and now only cat. Well, put a pretty lady in the window, and before you know it all the young guys want to hang out. That's how we met Tommie #1, a pet who had been abandoned. Motzie was lonely during the day, so I got Vonnie, a flame-point Siamese. Vonnie was a bit territorial, and didn't really approve of Tommie. Eventually we realized there were TWO Tommies, one a female. Tommie #2 had her litter, and I was able to place her and her babies with a foster home. I also found a home for Tommie. Well, nature abhors a vacuum, and almost overnight Brendan and Brenda, two ferals, moved into my yard. These two eloping sweathearts were quickly joined by several other cats .... Buff, a very tough, easy-going feral tom who was the clan leader; Swirlpaw, an older feral with a bad hip; two ladies who kept apart, and began raising two kittens; Tux, a tuxedo stray; Cinder, a gentle gray abandoned male; Button, a cute, small white male; and sundry other transient cats. Buff kept everyone civil, and welcomed any cat in need. I began the long process of taming the cats, and adopting them out. Meanwhile, in the house I accumulated more cats. Lady cat, an elderly cat whose elderly owner could no longer keep her; Whitestorm, a lively, affectionate young tom who had been dumped; Bramble, a tiny kitten whose owners no longer wanted him; Greycloud, a little lady left behind when the owner moved; an un-named kit left on my doorstep on evening as I was inside, watching a film; another baby left in my shed by a passing transient. I'm sure I have forgotten a few. I did not 'accumulate' all these cats at once. As I tamed them, I found them homes. Some had to be put down ultimately, for medical reasons. One died in his sleep one night. Every one left his (or her) pawprints on my heart. When I left Reno, I had to leave five cats behind. Three went to the humane society, where they quickly found good homes. A neighbor continues to care for, and tame, the two remaining feral cats. Motzie I was able to bring with me. I even lost the GF to illness along the way. The joy the cats gave her in her last few years will forever make me appreciate our furry friends. There have been many, many special moments along the way. If you're ever in Reno, stop by the Nevada Humane society and ask to meet Cinder. He's the one yet to be adopted; an older gray male with a gentle disposition. He's been there two years now ... my one remaining story. (He was an emergency placement, and wasn't fully tamed when I put him there).
