| My sister just acquired a breeding pair of these rare tail-less dwarf cats and they are 8 months old. She's expects her first litter in time for Christmas. I have suggested various outlets for her to sell them (Her local family owned pet store, upscale city papers etc.) She will sell them for $2000 each. I've seen the kitties and they're gorgeous- worth every penny. She'll charge more for placements who prefer a declawed cat. She's named the kitties Precious and Mr. Big Eyes. She expects to keep a female from her first litter to continue breeding because these are so rare. Would anyone suggest and ad in CatFancy?

I've never heard of such a breed and while I'm no breed expert, I do know a few. Could you tell me more about this breed? I know what Manx look like, but what are Toy Manxkins?
Yes, I'm the PROUD owner of 10 cats and a horse, you have a problem w/ that?

| Oh! They are sooo cute- they have short little legs and no tail. They come in lots of colors. Sister has a Black and white and a seal point. She hopes to add more colors later! Eventually she wants to add a hairless variety for those who need a hypoallergenic version. They have very wonderful personalities!

| Manxkins? I can't believe how quickly breeds are showing up that I've never heard of before. Not long ago, I heard about a dog called a Snickerdoodle or something like that. I think it was a mix of Golden Retriever and Poodle. So a Manxkin must be a crossbreed of Manx and Munchkin? That sounds very special. I used to have a neighbor that had a Polydactyl cat. It also had blue eyes and was deaf, but she kept letting it breed because everybody thought the kittens were so cute. Too bad she didn't have your sister's business sense. She could have made a lot of money at $2000 per kitten!

You know, I really am surprised! Lord knows, I work in an area where "designer dogs" from the pet stores are all the rage right now, so I don't get why the "designer cats" aren't as popular in my area. I mean, the pet owners in my area are kind of freakish and so are their designer dogs (who happen to mostly come out of the stores sick and the owners don't understand why and get upset), so why wouldn't they pick up on the rare cat trend? Guess they're a bit backwards and behind in the trends......Things that make you go hmmmmmmmm.............

| Oh Marie (my sis) is just a cat NUT. She knows a lot more about this stuff than I do. We had lots of cats when we were kids but I haven't had one since I got married because the DH is deathly allergic. So I have the dogs and she's got the cats. (I also have the computer and she doesn't). Anyway, Marie is disabled (she's got MS) and her cats are her world. Her dream is to support herself by sharing these wonderful creatures with others. Besides the two manxkins, she does have quite a few other cats but I can't keep track of them all. The two new ones are the cutest of all though. I can see why she loves them so much and I think it's good for her to have something like breeding as therapy. Keeps her busy. These aren't really "designer" breeds like dogs have- they are real, true new breeds. In this way, cats are far ahead of the game. I like these purebred Manxkins because they can't kill wildlife like other cats do. What I really like is that they give Marie a type of freedom, unconditional love and the opportunity to generate her own income while sharing these wonderful creatures with others! She is so happy now! Thank you so much SierrasMommy and TylersMom. Friendly people here make these boards so nice!

Dear Wahoo,
Well I'll be derned. I never seen no Manxkins, but they sure sound cute. Does your sister ever sell these cats a little cheaper? I think my cat might like to have one of those Manxkins as a friend around the house.

| I don't think so- she needs the income because her no good husband ran off and she can't work. You might check the pet store at a big city near you but these are awful rare. Your cat might just like whatever you find at your local shelter. There are always wonderful kitties there needing really good homes. Otherwise, get him a goldfish!
